Wasn't there supposed to be a plan in the first 30 days to defeat ISIS? So where's the plan?

Now, I’ve been around saying this, you would think somebody from the administration would at least call me and say, ‘Hey, could you tell us what it is?’ It happens to be a great idea. But at the right time, I guess I’ll give it.

The problem with politics is if I tell you right now, everyone else is going to say, “Wow, what a great idea.” You’re going to have 10 candidates go and use it, and they’re going to forget where it came from, which is me. But no, I have an absolute way of defeating ISIS.

Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway got asked about whether he would reveal specifics of his plan Monday on MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ beyond some of the tough generalities Trump has offered in interviews and on the campaign trail.

‘He may. And he certainly has a plan – I’ve heard it,’ Conway responded.

We’re gonna beat ISIS very, very quickly folks. It’s gonna be fast. I have a great plan. It’s going to be great. They ask, ‘What is it?’ Well, I’d rather not say. I’d rather be unpredictable.

“I know more about ISIS than the generals do. Believe me.”

But it turns out his plan to defeat ISIS, which he clearly had formulated, and with no help from anyone else, and which was the best, believe me, was to turn to the generals, who know less about ISIS than he does, believe me, and say “Tell me how to defeat ISIS.”

But wait. But wait!

“I have a substantial chance of winning. If I win, I don’t want to broadcast to the enemy exactly what my plan is,” the Republican nominee said at an NBC-hosted commander-in-chief forum in New York. The gathering was the first time both Trump and his rival Hillary Clinton have shared the same stage in this election, albeit at separate times.

In a military speech this week, Trump said he would ask generals to give him a plan within 30 days to defeat ISIS. Trump said Wednesday he would consider using a combination of his own plan and proposals from the generals to fight the terror group.

I guess 100% of the generals’ plan and 0% of his is still a combination of plans. He’s always one step ahead with his horseshit!

but he promised a plan to “defeat” ISIS within the first 30 days, and it seems that, for better or worse, some kind of plan for ramping up America’s efforts against ISIS is being presented within about that timeframe.

His claims on the campaign trail that he already had a secret strategy for defeating ISIS was utter bullshit, and his criticisms of Obama continue to be complete hypocrisy, but in regard to the OP, John’s just pointing out that maybe this isn’t worth wasting outrage on.

Of course it was all bullshit. But Trump did promise that he’d convene his generals first thing after being inaugurated, and have them come up with a plan in 30 days to defeat ISIS.

You see, that’s what went wrong, according to the Trumpists: Obama just never bothered to ask the generals for a plan. But what would you expect out of a Kenyan Muslim, anyway?

(Of course, in reality, Obama’s plan is working just fine, and ISIS, on the verge of giving up the notion of holding physical territory, is planning for a virtual caliphate.)

But according to my calendar, this is Day 38 of the Trump Administration. So where’s the plan? Maybe the dog ate his homework.

Trump and his moron followers will just take credit for the assault on ISIS that has been going on for the last few years. They’ll claim Trump ‘defeated ISIS in his first month in office’. I really don’t know how to deal with how divorced from reality his followers are.

I do think it’s fair to point out that this is still far from Trump’s grand campaign claims of knowing better than anyone how to defeat ISIS, but I also think it was fair of John to suggest that, as far as the plan-in-30-days promise goes, it’s more-or-less on track, and not really worth nit-picking. Especially when there is so much more genuinely horrible stuff from the Trump team to focus criticism on.

Tru dat. But when I posted the OP, I really had no idea that a plan was imminent. I just figured it was another of those ‘dog ate my homework’ moments that this Administration has been having.
