(Old) Wassup, doc, in the MMP?

I was in drive-up after lunch. A guy drove up and said he liked my watch, and asked if it was a Hamilton. I told him it was a Hamilton Ventura. He says he has a small collection of watches, so he notices them. That was nice.

That was about the last time I was there too. We used to go there and King’s Island every summer. Will you be staying at their hotel (T Breakers, I think)?

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. it’s 65 degrees Ferret Height(18.333 Centipedes)

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 11c/53f with a predicted high of 15c/60f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “My fucking joints are aching. That means the weather is changing for the fucking 365th day this year.”

That’s a shame, you were so excited about it too. I get the same thing with clothes though, they look good on the hanger or in the picture but on me, definitely the opposite!

Moooom with all the housework, boatwork and gardening you get through, I am surprised the doc thinks you need more exercise!

That’s why I refused to entertain the notion of the team manager job here. I could do the job, but there are far too many meetings about how to do the job, or what the job actually is, instead of giving anyone time to do it.

Yesterday was a busy irk day, afterwards I had just enough time to feed the cats and get all the recycling together to go in the bin before it was time to go to the gym and pedal furiously while going nowhere. I came home and parked the car on my drive, then hauled the biiiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection. 'im indoors made dinner, we watched a couple of episodes of The Witcher and then it was bedtime.

Today I have tended to the needs of cats, been out to haul the biiiig bin back to where it lives, and have had a cup of tea before my 9am meeting. I’ve got a list to get through today, then I need to make campus food and am hoping to make it to a kettlebells class tonight. I need to move the car back out onto the street later so I can get straight off to the gym. Other than that, it’s a normal irk day for me.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 72 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 88 and cloudy. TWPTB have pushed the chances of rain up 'til Thursday. It’s laundry day! Rejoice! That will be today’s main task. The other task will be to make tacos, refried beans, and rice for sup. Fartfest to follow.

red glad Nelson and you are back home. Ain’t no place like home!

MetalMouse sounds like a fun roadtrip.

Mollie hope Mrs. Magill finds the PFLAG meetin’ to be helpful. Great that you have someone you can talk to about makin’ the transition work for the both of you.

doggio that cocktail sounds good. I’ll go back and watch the video later. It’s way too talky for first thing in the mornin’.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward to cleansin’ and dehydratin’ laundry! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Good morning! The doctor I most wish that I had and that they could help me is one for my sleep issues.* Most nights I get about 4 hours of sleep and it sucks. The others that I see are a Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatrist, Therapist, Rheumatologist, Neurologist, and Orthopedist. I’m not stopping to count right now, but it’s probably about 5 pills in the AM and 6 in the PM.

As for today, it’s probably going to be a crazy day. We’ve got someone coming to paint the front foyer in a couple days and I offered to patch the holes so as to save a little bit of money. That’s gonna happen in the next 20 minutes or so. Then, the rental company will be coming to pick up my mom’s hospital bed because she’s taking over my downstairs bed. Somewhere in there I get to argue with the mortgage company and tell them that we’ve decided to go another direction, and last is me doing my actual job.

Guess I’d better get started…

*Been there, done that. Not helpful at all.

Today is starting with 55 Ferrets, on the way to 80-ish. Then mid-90s move in starting Thursday and thru the weekend before dropping back to the 80s. I need to pay attention to watering my gardens as there’s not a lot of rain in the forecast.

Today is chimney cleaner day, and possibly blower replacement day for the pellet stove. So $$$, but it’s gotta be done, because joys of home ownership. They’re not due till around lunch time, so I can do more transplanting this morning while it’s cooler. Beyond that, dunno what will happen. Surely something exciting.

Costs aside, I have been avoiding movies. I have no interest in super heroes, or horror, or extreme violence, Or kid movies. Or anything else in the Star Wars franchise. That kinda limits the availability. I just looked at what’s playing near us and of 12 screens, there are maybe 2 I might be interested in. But FCD probably won’t. Which is why we haven’t been to one in ages. Plus streaming at home in our recliners where we can pause for potty breaks is so much more comfy.

The drive-thru lanes at our credit union are all via video. They bricked over the windows and put the ATM there. Ah, progress…

I think she’s thinking in terms of something to help my balance and such, since I’m becoming more and more decrepit as days go on. She suggested the senior center. I’ve looked at their schedule. Maybe I’ll give it a shot.

What kills me, especially in plus-size ads, are the most definitely NOT plus-size models. Talk about false advertizing! Sure, that top looks great on that stick-woman, the one without bulges…

And I just now checked my ice maker - it didn’t make ice, and the water felt decidedly warm. Dammit. I did a reset - we’ll see if it helps. I’ll also start shopping for a replacement, just in case. Dammit.

Happy Tuesday!

The ATM is by the front door. Drive-up has bulletproof glass.

Community coffee is up to $23.99 for a two-pound bag. I only ordered six bags this time. (I used the 25% off promo code.)

(children singing) It’s raining, it’s storming, the old man is  (end of children singing) Huh? Oh, where was I? Ah, yes, the weather. It’s wet, loud, and muggy.

JaneTheCane, everything medical involves waiting. I always take my Kindle, and Mrs. Nott whiles away the wait with games on her phone.

Newsweek has a story about coffee’s beneficial health effects. This is part of a pattern going back to the time (famous explorer) brought coffee back from far away. It’s good for you. It’s bad for you. Flip a coin.

On the bright side of the screw worm worries, somebody will soon come up with a recipe for Screw-Fly Pie. None for me, thanks.
Metal_Mouse, your In 'Shallah reference caused my brain to summon up 2 songs. First was Kumbayah with In 'Shallah in place of the Gullah word, and the second was Sting’s In 'Shallah.

Oh, well. Que sera, sera.

And our good ice maker has died. For whatever reason, it will pump in cleaning mode, but not in ice-making mode. So I’ve ordered a replacement that should arrive tomorrow, and meanwhile, I pulled out the old one - it makes little cubes, not nuggets. But it’s ice, and since the fridge ice maker is and has been dead for years (no, I don’t want to fix it - I hate crescent shaped ice) we’ll make do.

Fun way to start the day, huh?

At least the dishwasher washed the dishes.

What do you hate about crescent-shaped ice? For myself, I hate the taste of fridge-generated ice, so we have the icemaker function disabled.

no ice is the worst. poor ice maker.

liirogue, i’ve been on dupixent since 2019. i haven’t had an eczema outbreak since. i haven’t had to use asthma inhalers for 5 years. great stuff.

i got stuff done last night! i got home, dropped off work backpack, grabbed some “take it there now” and took it there. went to the storage space and started to go through some bins. i was able to put 2 bins and a bag into the good will bins. tonight, i will take the bins from upstairs to the storage space, winter clothes mostly. hopefully they will empty the good will bins today. i have more items to go in there.

72F as of 0900. Got some good rain yesterday and more is on the way tonight/tomorrow.

The wife is having the dizzies again the past couple of days. I’m holding off on breakfast to see if she puts in an appearance, but will have to eat something soon or my blood sugar is going to tank.

Nothing much on the horizon until the niece visits tomorrow (assuming she doesn’t get rained out). My daughter turned 53 yesterday. It seems like yesterday that she was standing on the coffee table with her arms in the air shouting TA-DAAAAAH! Time is making me its bitch lately.

Morning all. Have arisen, micturated, broken fast, and installed hearing aids, so the morning must-do’s are done. Comfortable right now at 73F, but heading to 88F later with only a 1-in-6 chance of rain. Not much on the agenda, some house-irk and cash a check (I have about $1.78 cash on hand, and I like to have a wee bit more than that) and probably some calorie-burning later on, so a pretty good RDOS day.

Flyboy, always nice to be noticed.

red, not likely, the rooms at the Breakers hotel on Hotels.com run $429/night and I don’t need that much of a vacation.

boo fae, that’s why I never applied to be a branch or division manager when I worked for the government, sitting in meetings one after the other and having to solve every else’s problems never appealed to me.

swampy, looks like rain on Firday here, but a wet week is predicted after this week. We’ll see.

Sticky Buns, sounds like a busy day, hope it all goes as planned and Murphy does not put in an appearance.

FCM, I don’t (to the best of my memory) have a streaming service, I just can’t imagine sitting for hours watching TV (now sitting for hours watching You Tubes, that I can do… ). And condolences for your dead ice maker. And I still use the refrigerator ice-maker, it mostly goes in my Pepsi’s and haven’t noticed any issues.

flyboy, my local bank has drive-up windows (along with pneumatic tubes), don’t know about the bulletproof glass since I never shot at one…

Knots, have never drank coffee in all my years, so can’t say if it’s beneficial or not. And I’ll have to browse for those songs.

Truth.

rocky, happy binnage!

cookie, a happy (if belated) birthday to daughter. And time is the fire in which we burn…

And 9am already, so better be about the day. Have a good one all.

Good morning. The rain had stopped shortly before we got up, so we swamwalked. It was cool, but humid. Very, very humid. Chloé saw a bunny, which wisely noped on outta there, otherwise we didn’t see much of anything interesting.

The PFLAG meeting went all right. She said it was more of a social hour than anything else. The other folks were mostly parents; there were no other partners. She did get some reading material, which is good.

I don’t know why, but I’m still disappointed about the dress. I don’t know why, I usually don’t let things like that get to me, but this has. I guess it’s a good thing tomorrow is therapy day.

Looking at it logically, I probably should have known that it wouldn’t have worked for me, but I think I was just excited to have one of my very own. I think this is why I mostly wear tee-shirts. They fit, and they usually have something funny on them. I think I just wanted something pretty. Next time.

Sounds like work to me.

I assure you. It did not.

I’m sorry to hear about the ice maker. No ice sucks. Having grown up in the south, I put ice in nearly everything. Reminds me. I should make some Limoncello. That’s always nice, plus the by-product is homemade lemonade.

ETA: I meant to add this picture of a little dog on a big bed. Hopefully I make the edit window:

Good morning.

It’s 53F, damp, and cloudy. The day will remain cloudy, with periodic showers, and a daytime high of 59F. Not exactly yardwork weather.

I have a Samsung fridge; consequently, the icemaker is a POS and frequently freezes over. Even the manufactured replacement icemaker. We bought a small nugget ice maker, but it doesn’t hold much ice, and it’s kind of noisy. I’ll probably spend part of the day defrosting the fridge’s icemaker… again. I hate that stupid thing. I think if I were still working, I’d just get rid of the refrigerator and get a new one. After years of this problem, I’m well and truly sick of it.

I think today will be a laundry day. That’s really about the extent of my plans. I had a really restless night, and I’m just tired.

Time to get on with the day. You all take care.

Today is International Dark 'n Stormy Day.

In the 1920s, the family’s rum caught the attention of Royal Naval Officers who were brewing their own ginger beer. They added a hefty splash of the dark rum to their sparkling drink and accidentally created a delicious and iconic cocktail. According to legend, the cocktail got its recognizable name when an old fisherman claimed the drink had the “color of a cloud only a fool or dead man would sail under.”

I refuse to have an icemaker. One more thing to break. I buy bagged ice.

A streaming service that you pay for or a TV that you can’t stream on? Most places that I’ve lived in the last couple of decades has OTA TV that sucks and cable is outrageous. If you have a Roku stick or smart TV, there is a ton of free stuff, including YT and local channels.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I slept like the dead last night and even Nelson wasn’t restless. I’m in the midst of making phone calls, then I’ll shevel and go get groceries

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

i have many ice molds. currently i am using the bunny (spring) and cat molds. i have to dig out the summer ones. they are in a bin…

i have started operation “get a fish”. i’ve been watching too many aquarium/terrarium videos lately. there is this one office task that is enhanced by watching such videos. i ordered the aquarium and plants. i did see a betta fish i liked 3 weeks ago. hopefully another will catch my eye. at least i will have somewhere to put it if i see it. gold fish are another option…

the tough bit will be keeping koritza away from it.
