Jack and Will–f***ing brilliant!
I’ll second that. Btw, where is Bloom? Two of his movies are nominated.
Lord of the Rings is winning them all over the place. Has it lost a category yet that it was in? Does this spell doom or boon to Best Picture and maybe Director hopes?
Actually it’s still light over here right now, as technically we are experiencing 5:20 pm tomorrow right now in NZ. Which is lucky, because we haven’t invented those great typing headlamps yet on this side of the world.
LOTR:TROTK. Harrumph. It’s been a long time since a film I disliked so much won so many (relatively trivial) Oscars.
Go LOTR! Hooray for a wonderful presentation of fantasy! I hope they make a sweep of it !
OK, It’s official; LOTR is going to win every single award for which it is nominated. “Into the west” was by far the worst of the five nominated songs. “Belleville Rendez-vous” should have won.
I’m afraid with so many wins, they’ll lose the important ones…
Arcand! Arcand! Arcand!
And if I move from New Zealand to your country, it will up the IQ average of both…
Actually, if you’ve seen the movie, it makes sense.
I wanted the Beville song or the Mighty wind song to wind. I like LOTR too, but I don’t remember the song that won at all.
Jack Black is always funny. It seemed like Will Ferrell was trying to hard to be funny.
I can’t believe LOTR won for song. Give it to “A Mighty Wind” it isn’t like they have to act like they have to vote for a serious song, they gave one to “8 Mile.”
I’m really not digging the tan on Charlize. Pokey was right, you can’t see her eyebrows.
Er, “Belville” and “win”.
Yeah, Charlize was looking destinctively monotone. Even the woman sitting next to Peter Jackson looks better. Hell, Sting looks better than Charlize.
Yay for Denys Arcand’s * Barbarian Invasions!*
(Like there was any doubt.)
Well, we all knows what this means. Fantasy Films are going to be coming out fairly regularly for the next three or four years(not that I’m complaining).
Best acceptance speech line so far:
From the winner for Best Foreign Language Film,
“We’re so thankful that The Lord of the Rings did not qualify in this category”
Badger made it everybody! He made it! Holy shit this is the greatest moment of my life!
I’ve read about advertisers considering the Oscars on the same level of the Super Bowl, though I’ll bet the marketers are expecting to reach more women with the Oscars. I think it shows; with the Super Bowl there were a lot of beer ads, with the Oscars there have been several Diet Pepsi ads.
Charlize was her usual striking self at the Golden Globes, but she dropped the ball on this one. She looked kind of freckle-y … I think, it’s hard to tell, she just doesn’t look like she normally does.
