I’ve heard of it, and I think it’s weird. Porn time = alone time, unless you got some of the good shit, like clown porn.
I think it’s weird to watch porn with someone you’re not having sex with, regardless of the gender or orientation. Why watch something intended to titillate and then not be able to do anything?
Just remember, when you go to the bathroom to “take a leak,” you have to masturbate really quickly so nobody figures out what you’re doing.
In High school this was totally cool. We even had a night each month set aside for it. Nobody jerked off and joeks were made to cover up how titilated we were.
Recently a friend gave me a copy of a highly desirable film starring an actress whose movies were pulled off the shelf back in the mid80s, I wanted to see it so we popped it in… We watched ten minutes and then I turned it off because it felt a little weird.
My friends and I used to watch porn in groups all the time in high school. We did it for the reasons explained earlier in the thread, mostly availability. This was the days before you could get all the pron on teh internets. A buddy with the Playboy channel was a very popular person indeed. Wasn’t very titillating, though, mostly hilarious. We would get drunk and do a sorta MST3K act through the videos.
A friend used to run a little side business playing poker and kept an apartment set up as a playing parlor. When a bunch of guys would come over to play cards he’d turn on porn on the TV at the end of the table as they played. It was one of his little tricks to see how disoriented various people would become so he could win their money easier. Kind of a dirty trick if you ask me, but I wasn’t above taking advantage of it a few times when we’d get 10-12 people together to play Magic at the poker apartment.

The one time I’ve watched porn with other guys was at a bachelor party. There were only six of us, and I’d never seen any porn before. (It was on a Betamax, if that’s any indication of the timeframe.) It made me uncomfortable to be horny in a room with other guys who were horny, and none of us was going to do anything about it. I’m pretty sure it would still make me uncomfortable 25-odd years later.
Whenever I watch porn in a group, it’s always to laugh at the terrible acting, storylines, etc. Completely different reason for watching it alone.
One slightly annoying thing about watching porn in a group is that you can never leave the room for any reason without being accused of going off for a wank.
My husband just isn’t interested in porn. During the early years of our marriage, my best female friend used to come over on weekends, and she and I would watch porn together and laugh and smoke and have a good time. I never thought there was anything weird about this. If hubby had been interested, I’d rather have watched the porn with him, but he wasn’t, so I didn’t. My friend and I had a blast with the dirty movies, and my husband went into his shop to tinker with electronic mad scientist stuff. Different strokes for different folks, as they say.

Count me in as another of those who recall the Bronze Age, or whenever it was that not everybody had a direct personal feed to the internet – and porn would be watched in company because it was the most efficient way to get the maximum number of people to watch the same tape.
Besides, if you’ve had a few beers/tokes in you, joint watching of porn could be loads of fun doing the MST3K thing on the masterpieces.

We used to do it while in high school. The parents of one of my friends owned a video rental shop, so they had a wide collection available at home for preview. So you can be his house was very popular when mom and pop were away.
Nowadays, I couldn’t even think of watching porn intently with anyone other than my significant other. It would just seem weird to me.
The irony is that this is apparently more common with straight guys than gay guys. Why would I watch a video with another guy, when we can make our own?

panache45, I’ve always wondered how straight guys dealt with watching porn while in the same room. Besides the arousal thing by itself, there’s the awareness of the straight buddy(ies)'s “state of mind.” So, to me, you’re in the moment – and you’re not.
I don’t think I’ve ever once watched porn without wanting to do something about it, right then and there. And, in those cases, any male companion nearby was usually willing to cooperate.
And I wasn’t going to be waiting for my turn in the bathroom either.
For those who decided whose turn it was by playing “Rock, Paper, Scissors,” I guess the “Rocks” *really needed * to go first, right? Or did “Scissors” win through the power of suggestion?
