I have done this dozens of times with my best bud and thought nothing of it, but the other day saw some comedian or what not make a joke like it was forboden. Just wondering what others opinion was. It makes it hard of course to get really into it, if you will, but other than that?
It seems weird that a comedian would make a crack about it being verboten, because it certainly seems common enough in my experience. I don’t get the point of it (unless you’re fine with masturbating in front of each other) the same way I don’t get the point of going to a strip joint - if I’m going to get all aroused and shit, I want to be able to do something about it.
I know the guys used to do this in college. I used to hang out a lot with my boyfriend’s roomates, and I was a pretty easy-going girl, so sometimes they even watched in front of me. And it was quite clear they normally watched it all the time with each other…
However, there was also an unspoken knowledge that if you were planning to do something about the porn, ya had to be alone.
I think it depends on age. When my friends and me were adolescents this would be normal.
Nowadays, not so much.
I think it’s weird. If I’m watching porn I usually want to masturbate. I don’t want to masturbate in front of my friends. When I was probably 12 I looked through a Playboy or two with a friend, but that’s more because there was no other way for us to both look at porn, and it was just as much curiosity as for arousal purposes.
Yes, it’s weird. Sitting down watching two (or three, or four…) people getting it on? What’s the appeal? It would be funny, I think…I’d probably crack jokes about the ‘plot’ or whatever, but it’s not a normal thing to suggest.

In the dorm, generally the only way to get to see a porn tape was at someone elses room. So it would be viewed in company. But I think all involved would have rather been watching it alone.
It seems weird to me, unless it’s something you are watching for novelty value, like pterodactyl porn, or something like that. If it’s meant to be funny, then it’s normal, but if it’s meant to be arousing, I think it’s pretty weird. YMMV
Seems very weird to me, unless you’re at a bachelor party.
Porn used to be harder to come by so it was more conventional for guys to watch it in groups. It also had a novelty value that it no longer has. It’s availability now has made it more functional and private (so watching it with others has become more awkward), but at one time it was something to be shared with buds.
I do think it’s weirder to watch it with only one other guy than with a group of guys, but neither scenario has ever been very uncommon, IMO. At worst, you might just wish you could be alone with yourself for a few minutes, but I’ve never sensed any particular air of homoeroticism about guys watching porn together.
I think Dio put his hands on why they watched it together in college, too…it’s an availability thing. it wasn’t so easy to put your hands on porn so the guys when they got some, would share it.
This is right at the beginning when the Internet started to get reeeeally popular. I mean I didn’t get on the 'Net until I was 17, and a lot of kids still didn’t have computers in the dorm rooms. I didn’t.
But every room had at least one TV/VCR!
Because they’re only watching it for the plot and characterization.
Well, it was kinda weird the time I saw it.
I went over to an ex’s place and one of the guys popped in a porn video.
I think the weirdest part was I was the only girl, one was an ex and two of the guys weren’t ones I’d have sex with. Mostly the guy who put it on made comments about the girls, and I was amused to see the ending of the video that time.

I remember doing that in high school, in a co-ed group, though. The guys would do rock-paper-scissor to set an order for the bathroom afterwards. I think that’s a little weird, but we were a little weird.

I don’t think it is weird to watch porn with your friends. We used to have porn parties at my old college, basically buying pizza and beer and trying to find the weirdest porn we could. Mostly, people brought Japanese animated movies where the porn consisted of a creature that would rape and steal souls or whatever. We got drunk and laughed, but this usually concerned boys and girls in the same room watching it.
Back when I was a teenager, I would watch porn with random friends from home, basically if it was on, we would watch it. Mostly we would make fun of it - but we did watch it…

To me that would be weird and uncomfortable…
