Kirk, Spock, and McCoy beam down outside a large city on an unknown planet in full Starfleet uniform looking for survivors from the Beagle. What the hell do they expect to accomplish? They don’t even have a telephone directory to look up the survivors!
By an incredible stroke of dumb luck, they’re met by friendly natives who are runaway slaves. They agree to help Kirk et al. get into the city, and even supply them with native clothing … slave outfits, the one thing guaranteed to get them arrested by the first police patrol they encounter. With allies like this, who needs Romans? :smack:
Not sure why we need a new thread for each ep. now. We did have a recent rewatch thread…[did it get killed for some reason…no joy on a search]
Even with the parallel world problem, and the “sun/son” anvil, I really like this episode.
I love the modern Roman Empire, with TV. I liken the slave grey sweatshirts with the stenciled chain. I always wanted to make one for myself, but I wondered if that would havebeen in good taste. The Spock/McCoy arguments are in top form in this one.
“I AM defending myself!”
I love the satirical aspect of the episode: “Bring down this network’s ratings, Flavius, and we’ll do a special on you!”
Druscilla was hot, too! :o
I used to wear one to SF conventions; no one complained. (Easiest darn costume to make!)
“The thoughts of one man to another cannot possibly interest you.” ZING!
