Water water every where and not a drop to wash with

Arrrgh!I go to check on my laundry, y’know…in case it’s time to add fabric softner or something.I walk into the kitchen and notice water on the floor. I wonder if maybe Buttercup has been ‘playing’ with her water dish again…but I soon realized there was WAY too much water on the floor to have come out of her dish.
Then I think…maybe the dishwasher broke.Nope.Dishwasher is humming along nicely, jetting hot water and soap on to my filthy dishes so that they will be nice and sparkly and clean.
So…I open the pantry door, my last resort since the washer and dryer are in there. The outflow hose on the washer is broken and there is water going all over the place. All over the pile of dirty clothes on the floor. All over the empty boxes I was saving for something on the floor.Ugh.And the water smells faintly of detergent…ick.:smack:
So I trudge, mumbling obscenties, next door to ask Ron if he owns a shop vac. He does.Great. I borrow it and spend 20 min cleaning up the mess as best I can with a shop vac.I use towels (which were clean… )to dry the floor with, dump the water out of the vac and return it and its various pieces to him.
I call CG at work, who is understandably annoyed. He says he’ll look at it when he gets home.Fine.
But that doesn’t help me now.I’ve got an entire load of dirty clothes in there, including my uniform which I must get clean so I can wear it to work tomorrow.Argh.

“By the year 1980, we will be wearing disposable paper clothing.”

<< sigh >>

Why am I not surprised to see YOU be the first poster after the OP on this,DDG?

Argh.Paper clothing indeed.I only wish.

Karma brings me to all threads having to do with washing machines malfunctioning. In a previous life I must have been a Maytag repairman, and it must have driven me crazy not to have any work to do, so now in this life I have a kind of sixth sense for washers in distress.

This too shall pass.

Well let’s hope so.I was mildy…ok…GREATLY annoyed to go into the pantry and find water gushing out a hose onto the floor.
I just hope we don’t have to CALL the Maytag guy.It would be the second call in a month.
First the switchy thingamajiggie that tells the washer the lid is closed so it can cycle breaks and now this.
