I talking about my local Fox station here in Dallas.
So they did a report on how hundreds of Hispanic children did a “walk out” in their school today to protest the proposed immigration laws reform.
So who did fox manage to pick out of the hundreds of hispanic children to interview?
A young Hispanic lady who spouted out this little gem right here:
“With out us, (hispanics) who’s gonna mow your lawns? or who’s gonna work in your hotels?..”
Way to send a fuck’n message Fox.
BTW: I don’t rteally care if the protest itself was right or wrong. It’s just the people they chose to put on camera really boggles my mind.
God forbid they put on an articulate, caring, thinking, well-spoken child. The minds of FOX viewers would likely implode under the assault on their prejudices.
That’s because anyone with two working brain cells will avoid any TV news crew camera. They’re not looking for intelligent discourse or reasoned opinions. They just want to point them at the people who will yell the stupidest shit the loudest. I’d like to join in on the FOX part of the pit, but all the news does that. How else could Cindy Sheehan become a national spokesperson about anything?
I wasn’t aware that the US was being inundated with illegal alien brain surgeons and rocket scientists. Isn’t this whole immigration debate specifically about those kinds of low skilled jobs that, we’re told, Americans don’t want to do? I think the kid hit the nail on the head. Maybe he or she has a future in Hollywood. A Day Without Mexicans.
I didn’t notice this at first. What’s the title of this thread? “I talking”, “the people… boggles my mind”? If you want to criticize people’s smarts, it doesn’t help your case when you have obvious grammatical mistakes in your OP.
And what was the first response:
Because we all know, of course, that Fox viewers are stooopid and racist. That’s not prejudging people-- that’s a fact!
I have a question, does any man on the street being interviewed by the local news come across as a good public speaker? When a tornado hits Oklahoma or a hurricane hits Georgia the folks they interview don’t exactly come across as the pick of the litter if you know what I mean. I often times wonder why they bother interviewing the man on the street because he rarely has anything of interest to say.
The fact that children walking out of school somehow misses the ire of the OP complaining about the intelligence found in said students says a bit. Let them protest at 4pm or on a weekend. If it’s that important, it can wait until after English class.
Why learn English? Very anglo-centric and racist of you to impose your language on Mexican immigrants. They’d be much better sticking with Spanish as that’s a sure fire way to move up the socio-economic ladder
Just once I’d like someone from the pro-immigration camp to say:
“you know, we provide a lot of the muscle that drives this economy and we provide a vital service. We’d like to be treated wth a little more respect. That said, this is still a damn sight better than life in Mexico”
I had it, but never saw it. Traded it in for something better on my netflix list-- I head it wasn’t very good. Interesting idea, but poorly executed. That’s second hand info, obviously, but 4.8 on IMBD isn’t a good sign either.
That’s exactly how I feel. It’s rare when they pick out someone who has something intelligent to say. It’s across the board, not just in this situation.
Though I think that ditching school was probably a strong motivator for joining the protest, it sure seems that a protest in the midst of school gets far more attention than waiting until after school or the weekend especially if they are walking out in conjunction with other protests.
