You’d think that the dead bodies would be removed immediately, or at least put in cold storage (they certainly have that) until they can be buried or disposed of properly.
I keep hoping that this explanation is also bullshit, but I’m pretty sure it’s not.
I think the people hiding in the mountain, the behind-the-scenes crew are folks who went into S.A. voluntarily. So they knew the score going in and when they were brought out. The townies were all abducted and made to believe they were in accidents so their reaction to the truth would be way different.
Yes, I understand we’ve got the townies and the mountain folk. I just don’t think the human capacity to handle the truth is all that different. Some folks just drank the kool-aid a little earlier.
They’ve already got a brain washing op going. Just re-direct it.
ETA: And I realize I’ve got two arguments pulling in different directions there. One is what I believe (folks can likely handle the truth) and one is the show logic (brain wash them). So in show logic, I guess I’m saying brain wash them a little harder to handle the truth.
So I finally got around to watching last week’s ep last night. Strike 1, suggesting I’m quickly gaining interest. I think the interruption of a week off immediately following the reveal lessened my involvement.
Now, typing this, I can’t even bring myself to post all the things that bothered me about this ep. Strike 2. My overriding thought was, OK, we know that, now moove it along. Can’t even BEGIN to grok everything involved in stockpiling all the supplies, constructing the mountain fortress… Then 200 folk building the town AND that fence in 2 years?! And did they ever explain why the volunteers couldn’t simply repopulate?
I’m not sure whether cancelling my series recording setting would be strike 3 or a game winning home run… I think whatever interest I had concerned trying to imagine what was going on. Now that I know (and find the premise preposterous), I don’t think I care enough about any of the characters to keep watching to find out what happens to them, and I don’t care about finding how the preposterous situation develops/resolves.
So Kate got a message from outside years ago, shortly after arriving in Wayward Pines, telling her that she was entering a secret government project and should lay low, and would be severely tested, possibly by another agent. What is that about?
Is Pilcher’s explanation of the situation the truth or is there something more going on? Obviously whatever it is is something extraordinary because the “abbies” appear to be real and there is the discrepancy in ages and subjective passage of time.
From the books, I haven’t read the books, you can look at the first book (maybe all 3) on amazon prime/kindle for free. (if you join their reader club, like $4 a month I think, lot of titles… ) anyway… I read up on Wikipedia and IMDb and can tell you: There is a dramatic, surprising end coming, there will be no season 2, unless they write more books, most of your questions will be answered. The show is apparently sticking to the books by 50% or 75% but plot details are close enough I can tell you an EPIC ending is coming and while it may not resolve all plot holes, it gives a definitive end to the Series. Basically, there are 3 books and more or less in the 10 show series each book takes up 3 shows…
Now, the writing style of the books is a bit cumbersome:
Ethan walked into the bar. The Bartender said hello to Ethan. Ethan said hello to the bartender. Ethan ordered a beer. The mug was old and almost cracked but yet still remained intact. Ethan walked over to the jukebox. He pulled out a quarter. Ethan selected J-5, The Rolling Stones… Gimme Shelter. Ethan walked back over to his bar stool and…
It’s like he was writing a script in a novel format. Very hard to read. (The text above is not actually from the book but it is in that style).
I think that was just a lie she told Theresa. Did anyone else think the sex ed class was vaguely reminiscent of the stories of the Hitler Youth & BDM encouraging Aryan procreation at all costs? Being the only gay kid sure would suck so much worse than does in a small town today.
My thought on that was that Ethan & Kate’s supervisor at the Secret Service was a volunteer for the program. We know that he organised for Ethan to be selected to be abducted. So presumably being a volunteer the supervisor was woken up early, and was able to talk to Kate ‘on an outside line’, and gave her those instructions.
We know that the supervisor was in on it to a point - he may be a ‘volunteer’ that we haven’t seen yet or perished with wave 1.
So the recording may have been ‘recently made’ - I’m a bit confused as to her timeline - she’s been there 12 years - how many years ago was ‘phase 1’ ?
her impression is that she managed to get to a secure line that only the agency would be able to get to and got her voice mail - which included the message from the supervisor.
I assume it was, indeed, the supervisors voice, there is some credibility to the message (he may have thought it was a Gov’t Experiment, it may be, etc) - it may have been planned by the bosses because they thought she may not go with the flow, etc.
We still don’t know all the activities between group 1 and group 2 - they may have dones significantly more planning to the stories.
What I still don’t quite get is the Real Estate boss - other than being a throwback to 1950 bad sitcoms, what does he bring to the table?
Remember that the Supervisor was in on both Ethan and Kate’s abduction. My guess is that he was trying to tell her that Ethan was coming and to hold on. He just missed the mark.
Real estate boss. I don’t think he’s in on it or anything.
I think he’s just there to be the “voice of the audience” in a way. He tells her what we all know. Don’t go messing around with the vacant lot. So she does. Etc. He’s also a complete jerk so we hate him.
I don’t think I’m hating anyone more than the teacher. What a smarmy bitch.
I find myself hoping that Sheriff Burke publicly arrests her and announces to the town that she’s been turning the kids against their parents and encouraging them to screw each other and is therefore a danger to the town and a pervert. What could Pilcher do?
Of course it wouldn’t make much sense for him to do that, but I’d love to see it.
Have there been 1 or 2 epsr sinCE Burke toured the mountain fortress? Haven’t watched or missed them. Given the reduced discussion here, I imagine I’m not alone.
