We found my crayons!

I’m sitting here reading the Dope while the best grandbaby in the world goes through my desk drawer and what does he find? My crayons!

I was wondering where they went–I already knew where my Tom and Jerry coloring book was, but I couldn’t find my crayons. Now all is right with the world.

This is the 64 color box of Crayolas. It’s duck-taped together and still has the sharpener. The price tag on it is from a store that has been closed for at least 15 years–they cost $2.97 when I bought them. I Froogled and see that Staples has them for $3.99.

I’m missing a couple of them and others have obviously been used a lot–they are only half the original size. The shortest crayon is Royal Purple–I love that color.

Hot damn, I’m getting out the coloring books and hitting the kitchen table now! The grandbaby can have the Batman book; nobody but me colors in my Tom and Jerry book.

It’s gonna be a good day.

You’re lucky! Are they from before they started adding “modern” colors?

(I never had the 64 count box…my only exposure was through friends who were better off than we were).

The grandbaby has the attention span of a gnat–he colored about 30 seconds and then started to eat my crayons! Fortunately, I had only given him the hideous yellow-green and vivid tangerine crayons to work with–no purples for him!

I got to color a whole page before he got too bored. However, I note that somebody had been coloring in my Tom and Jerry book. I know because:
[ul]She went outside the lines![/ul][ul]She used funny colors![/ul][ul]She signed her name![/ul]

But she also wrote “I love my mom” on the inside of the book, so I guess I forgive her.

The only reason I have the 64 count box is because I bought them for myself when my kids were little. Yes, this is before the modern colors–though I’m not so old that I have a “flesh” colored crayon.

I never got to own any of the larger crayon boxes.

A couple of years ago, my mom got me some watercolor pencils and a cool winged creatures coloring book for Christmas. I should probably use those someday.

gasps YOU HAVE A BATMAN COLORING BOOK?!

Me too! I want one! I think this weekend I’m going to look for a Batman coloring book and instead of taking notes in class I’ll color. That would be pretty awesome.

I keep my golden box of Crayola Special Edition 100 Crayon right on top of the hutch of my computer desk.

I’m 33, and they’re MY crayons. The kids got their own damn crayons, markers, pencils etc…(my step-daughter is incredible at drawing, so has an extensive range of art tools in her room), so my crayons and coloring books are off-limits.

I often color while watching movies on the couch if I’m too tired to cross-stitch. I’m working my way thru a Winnie-the-Pooh and a Disney Princess coloring book atm.

Oh, I also have a Puppies and Kittens coloring book I bought recently.

One of the counselors at girl scout camp had a Winnie the Pooh coloring book and some crayons. Unfortunately she didn’t understand proper crayon maintenance and left hers by the back window of her car. In July. The crayons melted into little balls and she couldn’t color any more.

I was looking closer and my Winged Critters Coloring Book–it’s really cool, but I think it’s inappropriate for crayons.

My mom is an artist and she tends to buy my kids creative gifts–apparently I got included as a kid that year. My older daughter is also quite artistic. I, on the other hand, am lucky that I can color. Drawing is pretty much out of the question, though I took drafting in highschool and managed to pass the class*.
*D- is still a passing grade, right?
