The review is here. (NB PIAF = Perth International Arts Festival, not Edith)
It was a great performance and the audience went berserk at the end. Lots of tears too. We sang it again on Tuesday night in Sydney, at a performance that started half an hour late due to the city-wide gridlock caused by the presence in the harbour of the QM2 and QE2. It will be interesting to see how the Sydney performance, which I thought was even better, is judged.
Not really. It’s the advertising material that we’ve been using both in Perth and in Sydney to promote the War Requiem concerts. It’s a juxtaposition of a contemporary war scene over what I assume is the ruins of Coventry Cathedral. Presumably the idea is that the meaning of the War Requiem is just as relevant today as it was when it was first performed.
