Anzac Day broadcast of our performance of the War Requiem

My choir gave two performances of Britten’s *War Requiem * back in February: one in Perth and one in Sydney. The Perth performance was recorded and now ABC Classic FM will be broadcasting it on Anzac Day (Wednesday 25 April), commencing at 8.00pm Sydney time.

If you’d like to listen in, go here and click on the Listen Now link.

Righto. I’ll put that in my calendar. Cheers, Cunctator, and well done!

I hope you enjoy it Ice Wolf. Unfortunately it’s a bit of a late start for you in New Zealand (10.00 pm).

For anyone else who is interested, starting times are:

6.00 am Wednesday US east coast
11.00 am Wednesday UK
12.00 noon Wednesday Europe

That’s really cool. I love Britten. For my last high school choir performance, we sang A Cermony of Carols. They were some of my favorite pieces to sing ever. I bet the War Requiem was fun too, although a tad bit more depressing.

I’ll try to catch it.

Phew! Almost missed it, but I’ve got the performance on now.

I happen to be up at the crack of dawn today (baby teething). I’m sitting here in the dark listening. Beautiful.

I’m trying but I can’t get any sound to come out!! :frowning: :frowning:

Sorry to hear that, Nawth Chucka. Have you tried the three options?

Beautiful music, this. Thanks again for letting us know, Cunctator. (As luck would have it, I’m doing some transcription stuff right now. This is helping me get on with it no end. Love hearing classical music while I work.)

Excellent performance. Well worth the extended ovation at the end, along with the hooting!

Thanks all. Yes, I think it sounded pretty good too - especially the first tenors!

The recording seemed a bit fuzzy in patches and there were a few spots when the choir was a bit difficult to hear. But pretty good overall.

I think our next broadcast (a live one) is in May some time.

Please do keep us informed. Very cool.

I’m jealous, very jealous. It’s one piece I’d love to play in. (And my university orchestra did it the term after I left :frowning: )
