We got over 100mm of rain yesterday

I’m at my parents’ place south-west of Sydney and it rained heavily most of Saturday night and all day Sunday. In total there was about 105mm. Fantastic! It’s the first decent rain that’s fallen here in about 7 years.

You call that a decent rain? How much would be too much in one day?

Since we basically live in drought, yep that’s a decent rain to us.

Cunctator - I’m in Sydney and had to run through the Domain Park to get to my bus. I got soaked, and forgot how much fun it is to be rained on.

The only bad thing was I had washing on the line when it broke yesterday and I just about broke my neck running down the stairs to get it before it got too wet.

The good thing is I spent a couple of hours watching wicked lightning strikes over the ocean from my balcony. Yay!

I don’t know how much would be too much, but nobody would be sorry if it continued raining at this rate all week (which it won’t unfortunately).

You’re just trying to escape from the cricket. “They’re seeding the clouds, man!”

Don’t take this personally, but as someone who is living in drought stricken urban Melbourne … I hate you.

I guess if your terrain can handle the runoff …

Phew, I had read 100cm of rain. That’s about 39 inches. I went backed and checked and saw that it was 100mm, which is still a pretty heavy dump. Hopefully you’re not getting much flooding. I guess I was thinking that you guys would measure in a unit close to that of an inch. OK, you can stop work on that ark.

“Hey look… a sunshower!”

20 seconds later, I am drenched to the bone and running through the streets of Kings Cross looking for some shelter. Glorious!
