We got'sch PUPPIES!

Oh my God, I just personally witnessed the puppy being born. Average-sized female, 11.2 oz. at 7:09 p.m. Eastern. Her ribbon color is Pink.

Good girl, Shimmer! Keep going, the rest want out too (and you want them out).

Second puppy is here! Light Blue female. 12 oz.

I’ve taken some pictures!

Shimmer is now completely relaxed and taking care of her puppies by cleaning them.

My landlady feels at least one more puppy in there, one that’s strong enough that it doesn’t really need external guidance.

Want more pictures? COURSE YA DO!

Awww.
They are cute.

Good mama! You’ve figured it out!

Third puppy has been born! 9.5 oz. female, Orange.

I read 9 lbs 5 oz. I was concerned for a minute.

That would be rough on a human mama, never mind a dog!

OP, please keep the pictures coming, not only now, but over the coming months! We need to see these puppies growing up! Much appreciated!

And a fourth puppy, a boy, was born at 11:40 p.m. 11.4 oz. Gray.

So we’ve got three girls and one boy, all healthy.

Great job, Shimmer! Sleep when the puppies do, OK? You’re going to be a busy girl for a while.

Sounds like she’s going to be a fine mom! When we had a rescue who unexpectedly had pups, the vet told us we can feed and water mom, but that mom would take care of the pups on her own (until they opened their eyes). And she did.

What an awesome experience, @ekedolphin! Good on Shimmer and her huMom. Thank you for sharing the pictures and the story. Of course we want more. We’re greedy that way.

Just beautiful.

Here’s a picture I took a short time ago; you can just barely see all four of the puppies.

Good mama, Shimmer. You’ve got a busy couple of weeks ahead of you.

Shimmer had to dip out to go potty, so I took the opportunity to quickly get a picture of the four puppies alone.

Remember Noelle?

Well, generally we keep dogs who are nursing far away from the other dogs, but Noelle has been very tolerant of Shimmer, and vice versa, so we feel comfortable keeping them in the same room together. Of course, Shimmer and the puppies are on the other side of a cage.

Here’s Shimmer and Noelle!

Those puppies are nice and plump. Shimmer is doing a good job!
