Mrs. Bernse and I were not planning on buying another vehicle until our house is paid off… which will probably be another 5 years. However, both her Grand Am and my Cherokee are in fine condition so it wasn’t a big deal.
However, my mother finally decided (after talking about it of and on for the past while) to part with her 2000 Accord to help her and Dad purchase a new 2003 Chev/GMC 2500HD Duramax Diesel so they can tow their newly purchased 5th wheel.
So she asked if we were still interested in the Accord, which we were. So, we made a deal for her babied, garage kept, like brand new 2000 Accord SE with 30,000KM for a great price that we couldn’t pass up.
It’s only a 4 cyl, but its got 150HP and a silky-smooth 5spd. Car is totally loaded other than no auto (which I am fine with) and no leather. I go and pick it up this weekend. I’m pretty happy about it as it is a beautiful car and a dream to drive. We were looking at buying a new Impreza in a few years but that will be on hold now.
We’ve got a 2000 Accord, the first car we ever bought new.
It’s got 77,000 miles on it, and it still feels new. There’s no way you can go wrong, picking up a low-mileage, well-maintained Accord, especially if it’s a sweetheart deal like this. Enjoy!
Its a great car. I did a 480KM drive last night @ 125Km/h and it took almost exactly 1/2 a tank… and I had about a 40-60km/h headwind most of the time!
Great car! As for the no auto/leather, Mr. Legend and I actually had enough trouble finding a slightly used car without those “features” that we ended up buying a new one instead.
Congrats! Back when I had a company car, I drove a 1999 Accord, followed by a 2000 accord. They were automatics (not my preference, but that’s what they gave us), but were completely sweet cars.
After I finish grad school next year (and get a real job again), I’m probably going to look for a used Accord (perhaps a Civic) and give the EZ Bake (dark exterior, dark interior Suzuki Swift with no A/C) to my brother - he loves it and would be thrilled to have it as a second car.
My friend got a Honda recently but within a week someone took off that big H on the trunk lid. I guess kids do that. I told her to glue it on next time
Nice wheels, bernse! Sounds like you got a good deal. I recently bought a 2000 car too, but it had 120,000 clicks on the odometer. Then again, it’s a diesel, so it can deal with lots and lots of kilometers before it finally croaks.
We’re on our third Honda (Civic). Love 'em. Dad’s on his second (not counting his Goldwings. Just traded an old one for a new one) My sister and her husband have two (Odessey and an Accord) and my other sister and her husband both drive CR-V’s.
