I first read about Lichtman’s keys back in the 1980s, before Bush Sr.'s run. Thought they were pretty good at first, but over the years, the judgment calls involved in too many of the keys piled up. In recent years, he’s been trying to make them more specific and minimize the judgment involved. The problem is, that means he’s retrofitting his definitions to many years of results that his keys only kinda sorta predicted at the time.
He’s 78 years old. I fully expect some health incident to occur.
