Clinton’s speech was so awesome, fSouth African morning radio was playing clips of it. Obama is actually going to have to work to top it, IMO.
Charles Krauthammer is especially far off his meds:
The Big Dog came to hunt last night. Two nights, two massive home runs. If you took a Babe Ruth blast and a Reggie Jackson homer and laid them end to end, you’d approximate what Clinton did last night. He absolutely shredded the Republican attacks on the $700 billion Medicare bit as well as the welfare work requirements. The Republican bazookas now look like pop guns.
Poor Mittens is going to go on Meet The Press this week, and if David Gregory has balls at least the size of BBs, he’s going to play snippets of Clinton’s speech and ask Romney to explain those attacks. I wonder if some scheduling conflict is going to arise and prevent that appearance.
He’s just trying to assure his political compatriots that all is well.
“Delusional”? You’re the guy who seems to think a successful speech by Clinton, eviscerating the Republicans, is going to drive voters into the arms of Mitt ‘n’ Paul.
Anyway, Post 162:

I could never consider one’s public speaking ability any more than a sometimes entertaining sideshow, and would never base my vote on same, but as someone who has had to do a bit of this sort of thing from time to time, I can appreciate it as a sort of art.

My bolding.
Jesus H. Galloping Christ, people liked the speech. They’re expressing their appreciation for a speech well delivered. If you’d like to challenge it on content, have at it, but it certainly seems you’re bitching purely for the sake of bitching.
I already knew that - I have a system.
yes, that one made me snort coffee
Now there’s a slogan! Though, with a scandal in his past, perhaps not one Clinton should coin.
After his facts about jobs created under dem vs repub administrations, the sports and online gaming taunt “Scoreboard.” would also be fitting – as in ‘look at the scoreboard; we’re winning’.
Kind of like this, you presumably mean.
Well, just to clarify, I was referring only to economic indicators, and Clinton is better positioned than anyone on that topic.
I’ve given it some thought, and I’ve decided that Clinton didn’t hit it out of the park. Clinton took it gently by the hand into the clubhouse, had it out of its clothes in seconds, and left it begging for more, 60 minute man style.
Yeah, and Lebron is no Jordan. Doesn’t really take anything away from Lebron to say so.
Clinton is a once-in-a-generation political speaker, a true prodigy of sleaze who has fortunately chosen to mostly use his powers for good. Obama has a different set of strengths–certainly no one expects him to beat Clinton at being Clinton. And with that said, Obama has done more for traditionally Democratic causes than Clinton managed to do, and with a more unified and (somehow) more vehement opposition.
I did me, and made me so happy that we have two of em!
Clinton’s speech was a masterpiece!
Not only the perfect presentation in terms of style and vocal inflection, but he was able to clearly explain many complex policies in concise, easy to understand details.
He had a strong message and conveyed it perfectly.
I will admit that after Michelle’s excellent speech, and Clinton’s masterful speech, Obama really has some work cut out for him to top those! The good news for him is that the groundwork has been set and he only needs to bring it home.
I can hardly wait for the debates to begin. This should be fun.
Ha!
And hot damn, you didn’t have to hurt 'em, Bill! I like being the smug asshole who says “It was a’ight” when other people are drooling over things, but honestly, that was beautiful. I want to marry and have sex with that speech.
Bill Clinton wins elections he isn’t even running in.
Some of us don’t think that is such a bad thing. I don’t mean to trash the former president, but I don’t think he’s the most ethical person who’s ever held the office.
The nineties are over, and they will probably not be back in our lifetimes. We need a different kind of leader, one who inspires us with “unwavering hope grounded in unending struggle.”
Is this a discussion or a fan club? Let him critique, we can take it.
I want that on a t-shirt.
I teach Speech & Debate, and the last two nights have been masterpieces of the speaker’s art. As opposed to the RNC, which was just…bland. Or embarrassing.
Bill really should have kept it a few minutes shorter, but the ad libs and riffs were so good that I forgive him for it.
Wait till you see who the nominate for president, you’re gonna shit a cow.
I think I stopped thinking a blow job was a it deal after we invaded Iraq.
What makes you think he’s not going to run for anything again. Maybe his wife will pick him as her running mate.
Omfg. Are you kidding me?
Yes, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo did not even get a prime speaking slot at the DNC. Dems have a bench.
Several peple already answered that question.
If I were you, I’d be more concerned about your bench of gas giants.
