We need a DNC 2012 Thread

Stop it ! You’re killing me! I almost choked, dammit!

No. In fact the GOP is about returning the country to the past. A time when women didn’t want access to abortions and birth control, minorities dare not press for their rights, homosexuals stayed in their comfy closets, and corporations suppressed collective bargaining rights. The halcyon, ‘glory days’, for white, male, predatory capitalists!

The GOP won’t even catch a glimpse the future, till they pull their collective heads, out of their asses.

The GOP! About the future!

Har, Har. I’m still laughing!

…Yeah…

Anything you need to tell yourself to feel better, I suppose.

Oooh, burn!

The future is old white reactionaries? Pass.

I see all this praise for Clinton, who killed about a million people in Iraq and thousands more in Yugoslavia, Sudan, and elsewhere.

Sigh.

In the middle of a pennant race? Or do the Rays have the night off? Or maybe he’s just on the disabled list again.

You know it was.

…Yeah…

Anything you need to tell yourself to feel better, I suppose.

A million people in Iraq? I’m assuming you can provide cites for that claim? In 1998, Clinton authorized strikes on nuclear production facilities, and there must have been collateral death. But millions?

No need. I prefer to live with a healthy dose of realism.

In the same spirit, I prefer to live in a cottage on the beach of St. Thomas. Hopefully some day we can both realize our preferences.

I prefer to remain where I already am; you’d prefer to go someplace you’re currently not. I’m sure you can see the difference between the two.

Republicans have always wanted to move the country forward to the future.

It was a Republican Congress that passed the 13th Amendment outlawing slavery, and passed the 15th Amendment that established the voting rights of all adult males regardless of race.

Democrats are the party of slavery and socialism.

I suppose technically you’re right. I mean, post-apocalypse is normally considered a possible future.

Isn’t that known as the Sarah Palin method?

Yes, the Republican party of the 1860’s did a great job. I would totally vote for Lincoln if he were running this year.

If that’s the case, did you shit your pants during Clinton’s speech? I’m guessing Ryan and Romney both emptied their colons.

Well, of course, that’s why they call themselves conservatives, and not progressives.

Hmmm. How does that work? The workers control the workers who control the means of production?

This reminds me of the recent crazy ass Chuck Norris video with his brain dead wife. “If we say lots of scary words without any coherence or apparent recognition of their meaning, we may scare someone into agreeing with us!”

Well, I’d say that the GOP is mostly aiming for the 1950’s, when both parties and most corporations were actually mostly in favor of unions. So in that case, perhaps they’re aiming back to the 1850’s.
