I’m sorry, but some posts/posters on occasion DO deserve a  Some people can honestly be absolutely full of shit sometimes (maybe a full of shit emoticon can be created?).
Now whether it is over or often inappropriately used is another matter.
I despise the rolleyes smiley, so I adblocked the image. It means I might occasionally treat sarcasm with more gravity than it deserves, but that’s not a big problem.
I’d suggest that anyone who feels demeaned, attacked or even threatened by a 20x20 collection of pixels should take $1.00, go down to their local Wal Mart, buy a scouring pad and take a shower using it in an attempt to thicken their skin*.
Because, really..how very sad.
*Erm…the idea is that the scouring pad will scrape the skin and that it’ll grow back thicker. Yeah. Lame. It sounded better in my head. But the point’s still valid.
While I agree that the rolleyes emoticon can at times be annoying, untwist your knickers for crying out loud. “Wah, someone was snarky toward me on the internet.”
The emoticons currently in use on this site are vB boilerplate and come along for free, as it were, they’re the system default.
The “Jewish” smiley was removed because quite a few people found it offensive. Others found the “Wally” smiley equally offensive, because the little character said “putz!” and “putz” is not a compliment.
There was so much griping from offended people over these two original smileys that we finally just gave up and removed them both.
