We need to lose the "rolls eyes" emoticon.

For as heavily modded as this board is when it comes to insults, it’s incredible that we still have the infuriating rolls eyes smiley. I could link to countless threads, but here’s one. Scroll to post 172.

I hate that passive aggressive/dismissive crap, and I’m not alone. Quite often it’s used as a work-around to call another poster an idiot and get away with it. It’s ridiculous that the thing exists, and that if the insulted poster fired back with words, they’d get dinged.

And if it can’t go, SDMB should lighten WAY up on casual insults. At least those aren’t passive.

What a predictable reply.

Very nice!

It was a carefully considered response, one I bet no one else in a million years would have thought of.

And while you’re at it, bring back the Jew!

All I can say is, switch to decaf.

It’s perfect when a poster writes something that is eye rollingly stupid. Happens all the time. It’s directed at the post, not the poster.

As I’ve said before, if you have the extreme reaction of feeling some silly emoticon is “infuriating”, the problem is NOT the emoticon.

We also need to lose the letter F because people use it to write bad words with.

We should remove with so people won’t end sentences with it.

Interesting name/post combo. I guess we know what the f stands for now.
Now what about the other ones?

:o Which could also indicate a yawn. Bored by MY post? Harumph!

:dubious: How dare you express your dubiousness. I’m insulted.

 Look, if you’re confused and have something to say, just say it. Using just this is insulting in it’s brevity.

 Yeah, like you never…

:stuck_out_tongue: How childish

 I’ll fucking kill you for posting this one, you slanderous bastard you!

What do you have against Hawaii?

The problem with this argument is that no one ever actually gets in trouble for using the emoticon, even when it’s clearly not directed towards the post.

And if emoticons really were silly, they’d have no purpose here since silliness is a thread closing offense.

It was born In Japan. A book bio-blurb confirms it.

I count 56 stars. I think he included D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Midway Islands.

We need to replace the “roll eyes” emoticon with the “intentional use of childish grammatical construction to make a point” emoticon.

Don’t forget the badges!
