Tonight my SO and I went looking for an engagement ring. It was interesting to say the least. He’s kinda shy and didn’t want to go alone, so even though I wanted it to be a surprise, I went along. We went to several different stores and didn’t really find anything. I’m not really a flashy type person, so what I have mentioned liking is a small, heart-shaped diamond in a yellow gold setting.
I guess this is not very traditional and we didn’t find much. He’s determined to find a high quality (certified, colorless, very good clarity) and the stores don’t really seem to have any in the shape we were looking for. I kinda liked the emerald cut diamonds too, but again, those are pretty rare to find sitting around too. There were pleny of round ones, but I was hoping for something a little different. (Not that I would say No to any cut).
We did find a nice lady who is going to help us custom design one. I found one on a website that I absolutely LOVE, so we are taking a picture in this week and seeing what it’s going to cost. I’m very against paying a ton of money for a ring. I know he loves me and that’s enough. I’ll say yes to a $200 just the same as I would a $20000 ring. I probably made a mistake mentioning that I LOVED heart-shaped diamonds. I’m gonna have to wait on him to find one before I can have a ring!
I’m just excited that we are finally going to make it “official” soon. What fun. Then a nice little ceremony in some little country church… (My mom is praying that will come really soon) And a long life together with our two cats…
