Show us your engagement ring!

Inspired by this thread, show us a picture of your engagement ring or wedding set.

My original ring was an oval-cut diamond trinity ring. Earlier this year I somehow got a massive chip in the centre stone. We replaced it with a round brilliant-cut trinity of better quality.

I haven’t got a shot of my ring on my finger, but the online pic is thus: my ring. My wedding band is a plain gold band the same width as the engagement ring.

Here is a very close version of mine. Just a plain gold band for a wedding ring.

And now, having looked closely at my engagement ring… I can’t remember when I last cleaned it! Guess I know what I’m doing when I get home.

This is what I gave to my finacee a few months ago. It’s my grandmother’s old mine cut diamond in a new band.

Here’s mine along with my wedding band - I can’t get to a better picture of it right now and this was taken with my camera phone, so it’s a bit dark. The center diamond is over 150 years old - it’s been passed down in ElzaHub’s family since his great-great-grandfather went out west in the gold rush.

This is my wedding ring, only in white gold. I had the wife’s engagement and wedding rings custom-made, so I can’t post those. The engagement ring was a diamond solitare in white gold with a “Bridgette” band. The wedding ring was in white gold, engraved with flowers and an epigram in French.

This is my engagement ring and this is my wedding band. I love heart-shaped stones and didn’t want anything else for a ring. Luckily my husband listened when he went shopping. He doesn’t like the quality of the stone, but I refuse to let them replace it. I love my rings, I haven’t met anyone yet who has one like mine.

My fiance had trouble picking out a ring for me. I didn’t really want a diamond, or anything expensive, really, but Jake’s mom and sister convinced him that he HAD to get me a diamond for whatever reason, and so I hunted around online until I found a diamond ring that I thought was pretty and was cheap enough that I wouldn’t feel weird about it. I sent him a link and said, “here, get this one .”

Here’s mine.

Now I just need to find someone to put it on my finger…

Mine looks like this.. The wedding ring is a plain gold band.

My brother-in-law gave my sister a huge heart-cut stone (I think it’s close to 1.5 carats or something) in a platinum solitaire setting. They’re pretty hard to obtain apparently…he ordered it from Amsterdam and had it specially cut.

She actually told me she really wasn’t expecting/asking for the cut and probably wouldn’t have picked it out for herself, but when she got it she loved it because it was so like him to pick out a heart rather than a more traditional cut.

Mine.

Both white gold. I’ve had an engagement ring in the past with the big honking diamond on it, but I didn’t like it because I’m so klutzy - I kept banging it into things and nearly having a heart attack each time. My now-husband heard me complaining about that, and so when he picked out the engagement ring, he chose something more my style - a simple band with diamonds embedded - klutz-proof. I still managed to knock one loose in the shower that one time (I blame the shower pouf) (the mesh scrubby thingy, not the magical shower fairy), but I don’t worry when I wear it out.

The wedding band is white gold band with a simple flower and vines design engraved into it. I fell in love with it when I saw it and had to have it.

Here is mine. We got engaged the day after Thanksgiving last year, and are getting married in May. I can’t find a pic of the wedding ring I want online, but rubberfiance wants something like this

I designed my wife’s ring and had it cast in platinum for her; the jeweler I worked with was phenomenal, and spent several Saturday afternoons going over my designs until he knew exactly what I wanted. Here’s a series of cross sections from one of our conversations – the notes in the lower right about “ocean waves” and “liberty bell” are because I am from a beach town and she’s from Philly. Here is the design I ended up going with, which uses circles and ocean waves to create a hidden “heart” shape. The labor cost of getting a one-of-a-kind ring made for someone was a little steep. But if you can handle simple drafting, and/or know a good jeweler who can help you make artistic decisions, then having a one-of-a-kind ring is a great feeling.

Oh wow! I bet that’s pretty. You should have your sister send you a pic so you can post it, I would love to see her ring.

They’re rare, but I think it has more to do with demand rather than supply. I see a lot of marquis and princess cut than anythign else. Most people who realize what cut I have make such a fuss over it. I like to be a little different and girly sometimes. I wouldn’t trade my ring for anything.

For our 10th anniversary, I told him I want him to get me a diamond encrusted band to wear with these. Hopefully by then I’ll have these two welded together and get the bridge taken off the band. He doesn’t think the diamond is big enough, but because of the cut (it’s half carat) it appears a little larger. It’s more wide than deep. I think he’s crazy. I have small, fleshy fingers and anything larger would just look funny to me. I’m very happy with what I have.

Nice to meet you, fellow heart shaped engagement ring wearer. Mine is 1/3 carat.

My wedding band is a bit different. The stones are a lot smaller and positioned near the top of each side of the heart, and the stone looks like it is sitting between angel’s wings.

When my husband proposed with the heart shaped stone, he said he picked that one because I already had his heart. March 23, 2006 marks 4 years married. We’ve been together a little over 5 years.

After 36 years Ms Hook got a diamond last Christmas. Don’t have a picture but its 1.71 carets, VS1, E or F. She gets lots of comments on it and just eats it up. Which makes both of us happy.

You should post a picture. I love heart-shaped stones!

That’s so sweet what he said to you. March 23rd is my mother’s birthday. We’re about 2.5 years married, and March 27th will be 7 years we’ve been together.

Ooh - cool! I think semi-bezel settings are very smart - less chance of damaging or losing your stone, or catching on sweaters & such. Plus, they’re supposed to make the stone appear slightly larger, according to what I’ve read. I’ve got a ring (not wedding/engagement) that’s semi-bezel set, and I love it.

I haven’t seen a ring quite like mine, so the only way I could post a picture is if I take a digital picture & post it, which may not be possible for a little while. But my center stone is oval shaped, which you don’t see all that much. And I opted for the intertwining engagement ring & wedding band (although the wedding band ends up looking more like a ring-guard, I suppose).

This is similar to mine, except the setting is round and has more diamond boogers in it.

When I recieved it, my mom and sister tried to convince me that it didn’t count because it wasn’t a solitaire.

Mine is something like this. Not as large a stone, but that cut and setting. My wedding and engagement bands actually don’t match. They’re both platinum, but I got them at different times and they’re different shapes. The engagement band is like the one in the picture, and the wedding band is the more traditional, flat band.
