New Guy got himself signed up with a temp agency and starts his first job tonight. It’s just a 2-week gig, but hopefully he’ll get more assignments after this one. The main downside is the shift is 4 PM - 2 AM, 7 days per week, so basically I’ll see him weekday mornings when he’s driving me to work, and … in the middle of the night if I wake up when he gets home, I guess.
Fingers crossed that this job goes well, and additional appendages if available for future jobs to come, please. We both need this to work out, for a huge number of reasons.
I’ve decided that there is no way in hell I’ll ever be one of those crazy survivalists. If the end of the world comes in a comet or nuclear war or zombies, I’m just going to kill myself. I’ll never stock up on food, never stock up on gas or learn how to use a generator, or buy a gun. I don’t want to live in a world without modern comforts, shitting in a hole and burying it and boiling river water to drink and sleeping with one eye open so that nobody will kill you in your sleep. Civilization or nothing!
Nemo, I would be shocked–:eek:SHOCKED!–to learn alcohol had been involved in the bad parking job at your parents’ house.
I liked the part where the guy surfed into a skyscraper.
Oldest Sister just texted me and said she’d be in town this Friday. We are going to try to meet up somewhere. I think I may have committed to A Charity Event after irk that day, but it shouldn’t take too long.
I think I’m going to write another story tonight. I’ve got one rattling around my braincase that wants to come out.
Dindin is ingested. We also went over to see Barbara for a bit. She, her daughter, and s-i-l are leavin’ tomorrow for Pensacola, where Barbara and Harry are from, and where the funeral will be held on Firday. I plan on makin’ dindin for her when she gets back as that’s when she’d probably appreciate it most.
Yog, because of you I feel the urge to reread Lucifer’s Hammer.
I liked the man who placed books in plastic bags and then dumped them into the septic tank to save them. . . or was that another disaster book? The one about the poles shifting:D
Last day in FL has been a chilly one, and we’re in the hard freeze zone tonight. Leaving tomorrow will not be particularly pleasant till the car warms up.
**FCD **survived his teaching stint in the middle school - they told daughter’s classes that he was her son. He’s back now, relaxing after a yummy supper of bean soup and peach cobbler.
This time tomorrow, we should be home. I hope… Have I mentioned how much I hate I-95???
It’s cold out so Ima go snuggle down under my blanky and watch teevee until sleepy time which, though I know it’s early yet, might not be too far from now. I’s tahrd and feelin’ a little sleepified.
Is it just me imagining things, or does it seem like everyone else on this board is better-off than me? So many people have decent jobs and enough money to live on, a really nice house, etc. etc.
Too mundane and pointless to start my own thread, so I shared it here.
Emily, truth be known, there are some well off folks here, but then again, a lot of us are on tight budgets or struggling. Here’s hoping that you find your finances looking up in the coming year.
