Dorothy just had her first kitten! I dunno why, but those KittenCams are just so addictive. They’re a sure cure for anyone who thinks allowing cats to have a litter so Junior can experience the miracle of birth is a good idea. It’s a wonderful demonstration that we’re all just biology and that biology is messy, bloody, painful and gross, but it’s still pretty damn awesome to see the end result of zillions of years of evolution in action.
Dinner has been ingested. Tonight’s feast consisted of chicken boobs slow-cooked in cream of chicken watered down with, well, water. When I got home, I cooked the sauce down and added flour and peas to thicken it for Chicken a la Rockin’, a dish that may not be fit for a king, exactly, but it was still pretty good. It’s going to be lunch tomorrow, as well.
Earlier today, I rolled up my sleeve and got my flu shot. My arm feels OK; a little tender, but OK. That’s probably because the [del]miscreants I live with[/del] my wonderful, loving family members haven’t [del]beaten the shit out of[/del] gently love-tapped my arm. They’re remarkably decent, those two.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 31 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 47 for the day. It’s supposed to be around 20 Amurrkin tonight, up to the mid 50s tomorrow and then warm up to the 70s by the weekend. South Jawja weather be weird!
Nemo forgot to say yestiddy, glad you’re parents are ok and here’s hopin’ the construction won’t take too long.
I yanked a frozen (homemade) lasagna outta da freezer last night and put it in da fridge. That, a sallit, and some garlic bread will make for a nice dindin on a coldish day. Oh, OYKW survived his audit. Yay for that.
That’s all I got for now. I need more caffiene and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. Also, I shall make a foray into the east forty this mornin’. On the plus side it’ll only take a couple of hours. Plus, I get free N.O.L. provided by the irk place. That’s always nice.
Also up and caffeinating. It’s 32F exactly according to the thermometer outside.
Today I have to actually go into work, which sucks. I have to get purdy and put on real clothes, instead of just brushing my teeth and working in my jammies (which I get to do Mondays and Fridays).
It’s cold and I have flannel sheets on the bed. I would like to go back to the bed. Bah.
The trains were awful- full of drunks, with silly delays, for reasons including: missing staff, stolen signal cables, (for my bro’s train ‘train in front caught fire’), and when I got on the coach which was replacing part of the route (due to scheduled work) the driver got to a service station and refused to budge until the police arrived, as some guys were standing up.
Of course, at half past midnight on a Saturday morning, arresting a few tipsy lads for standing up on a coach in order to chat to their mates, ten miles from the nearest large police station is top of the priority list, in fact, I’m surprised they didn’t send a helicopter… In the end, the guys just got off at the services and called a taxi.
I’d have been more sympathetic to the driver if he hadn’t already jumped a red light and dangerously cut off a guy by turning from the wrong lane right in front of him…
The meeting was a bit of a mess, though the little big kittehs are doing well, and still really cute (no pics sorry).
I think I shall drive up for Christmas.
Anyway, I need to away, I have library books what needs returning, a bank to visit, and ‘tis sunny, so gardenin’ shall ensue.
I have been up for several hours, caffeinated and at irk for slightly less than several hours although it feels like a lot longer, and I has an irk.
(((((Swampy))))), sorry to hear you has a sad, they do sound like the perfect neighbours and Alzheimers is no way to go, especially not so early.
I am tired today, Ophie has been reminding me that while I was away over the weekend, she did not receive anything like an adequate amount of fuss and therefore I was expected to put this right. I wouldn’t have minded so much if she hadn’t chosen midnight onwards as the time to be telling me about this.
I am considering changing my user name, and my name IRL, to “eat-onions-only-in-moderation”
I need a queasy smiley.
Spidey hot cocoa for you and fleece feetie pj’s
Ooooh; this one’s definitely a keeper!!! (Put away the squid & the goat!)
**Rosie, **the house has heat; however, new job will be commuted to via public trainset. When I commuted that way in the past, I would put on long johns under clothes for the outside wait for it to show up (& go into irk bathroom & remove 'em as soon as I got in) because those would invariably be the days the train was late.
(& mebbe some of these for casual days.)
It’s 10 degrees with a wind chill of about 0. I am not amused. Last night I got in bed around 7:15, snug as a bug in a rug, and fell asleep. Eleven hours later I woke up. How can I be so tired???
Howdy Y’all! Back from my foray to the east forty and I have ingested a good N.O.L. of ham, green beans, mac 'n cheese, rolls, and German chawklit cake. I need a nap. However, I did not make a pig of myself cause tonight is lasagna!
Thanks for all the hugs. I spoke to Barbara briefly before I left da cave this mornin’. Her daughter is there with her so I’m glad for that. Barbara told me she’s feelin’ both grief and relief right now. I totally get that as that’s kind of how it felt when my father, who had AD, died.
Right now 'tis 40 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 45 for the day and windy. Tomorrow high in the mid 50s and Thursday in the mid 60s. Like I said, south Jawja weather be weird.
Update on my parents’ house. I just spoke to my brother. They’ve got a crew in now that’s putting a patch up on the wall so it’ll at least be closed off. They’ll be getting estimates for the actual repairs. Which probably won’t be cheap because the house is almost two hundred years old. But that’s the driver’s problem.
This was a very strange accident. Knowing my parents’ house I had figured the driver was about fifty feet off the road when he hit the house. But my brother says it was further than that - he had driven across the full lawn before hitting the house. So he had driven over a hundred feet off the road before the collision. I didn’t ask if the driver was drunk but I have to wonder.
They cancelled the Thanksgiving dinner that was planned. I figure I’ll take them out to a restaurant for Thanksgiving instead.
The big thing is that they weren’t hurt. But they had left the house only about five minutes before the accident. And they had both been in the room that the truck drove into.
Nemo, I had a drunk and stoned jackass park his truck in my living room in 2001. His back bumper was in the living room window, and his front was in the dining room. Nearly killed VWife and Sadie The Perfect Dog in the process. This happened on June 6th, and we weren’t able to move back in until Labor Day.
We maxed out his insurance policy, and heard they refused him any further coverage. He skated on the DWI charge, however, and was well known to the court as this was his 7th drunk driving case. I was hoping for the death penalty…
I can post pictures later tonight if you wish. By all means, treat your folks out for T-Day AND Christmas, because they will need it.
