Web faxing service

Someone in my company wants a web fax service where his incoming faxes will be received via email. He’s tried eFax, but doesn’t like the spam that comes with it or the “proprietary nature of eFax’s viewer.” So can anyone suggest an alternative? He’s willing to pay a monthly fee if it’s necessary to get something ad-free.

I’ve been very happy with efax. I’m not aware of a lot of spam from them. (I think there was an option to opt out … but I don’t recall the details.)

You can choose to recieve your faxes as PDF files – the proprietary browser is not required.

I never get spam from eFax. Is your boss paying for it, or doing the freebie version? And like Twoflower said, it doesn’t have to be proprietary.

The only thing I don’t like about eFax is that they don’t have any backups. When my ISP decided to quit accepting email from them (don’t ask…) I simply didn’t get faxes. No notification, nothing. It wasn’t until I was expecting a fax that never came that I tracked down the problem, and all the faxes I didn’t get were just dust, because eFax neither notified me that there was a problem nor kept a copy of the faxes that didn’t get through.

Thanks for the advice. I’m not sure whether he is using the free version of eFax now, but I’ll check.

Green Fax has the best rates I’ve foiund.

I know you said they’d prefer to get their faxes by email… but if they’re not totally married to that idea… they might consider Mighty Fax. I’ve had this software for years…and love it.
