i want to start a website, and one of the sections will be based on a toyline. I have around 16 megs of pictures so far, with more to come, so just that section alone is too big for a lot of free places. What web places do people here use for homepages, how much, how much space, all that jazz, i needs to know. Also, is web hosting talk a good place to check out?
Yeah, WebHostingTalk.com is a great place to find hosting specific to your needs. Simply write a post detailing your requirements and budget in the “Web Hosting Requests” section, and the hosts will fall over themselves to offer you the best deal.
I did this and found a great host for my needs.
Do research any host you consider before signing up, however. A quick search on the net for host’s name +reviews or host’s name +complaints, is probably worthwhile in case they have caused people problems in the past. I did this for my host and only found good reviews. They have certainly proved correct so far.
Good luck!
Since you asked who others use, I’ll just chime in with my usual plug for dixiesys.com (no affiliation) who has been great for the 10-11 months I’ve been with them.
Racer1’s idea also sounds great to me, btw.
Another vote for dixiesys.com. They even take payments in PayPal.
Techchick also recommended readyhosting.com. and I like them too. They have (drum roll) COLD FUSION!!!
