Web hosting with Fuitadnet... any experiences?

So I wanna set up a webpage to host numerous small (and a small number of large) video files of mine. I come across Fuitadnet.com. Long story short, they offer wondrously cheap hosting packages.

So I wanna know if it’s too good to be true. Anybody have any dealings with the company? Any horror stories? Or should I go ahead with this and set up my webpage?

I’ve never heard of them, and lots of times I’m leery of realy cheap hosting (you get what you pay for) but check out www.webhostingtalk.com forums and do a search for Fuitadnet. They seem to be a pretty favorable host, but also fairly new.

This is better suited to IMHO, so I’ll move it.

wow, that’s an awesome deal if they’re reliable!

Let me know if you sign up, I might follow suit

The cheapest reliable hosts I have used are http://www.net4domains.com

But they offer only a few MB compared to the 3GB at Fuitadnet.com for the same price.

If anyone has any experience with Fuitadnet.com or with other hosting providers offering a similar deal, I’d be really interested.

Ok, I did a bit of reading on their site and the link that ZipperJJ gave.

From what I gather, it seems that they are a decent hosting provider.

Pros:

Extremely cheap
Good customer service
Excellent options
They’ve just last month upgraded their servers to Dual Xeon 2.4GHz with 2GB RAM. They’ve upgraded from Celeron 1.4 with 1GB RAM. They’ve kept the price of hosting the same.

Cons:

Virtually no data backups
Single hard disks, no redundancy, no RAID config, etc.
Single ISP link, no redundancy
No guaranteed uptime. Although they claim 365, 24/7 reliability, many have experienced a few days of down time. Reasons include switching servers, upgrading hardware, switching ISPs, etc.

So, if you have a non-critical website, I’d say go ahead. However, if uptime is critical then I’d probably avoid them as a hosting provider.

I think I’ll sign up with one of my less critical sites when my current hosting expires. It’s a great deal otherwise.

The other provider that was suggested on those forums is:

http://www.lunarpages.com/

Not as cheap, but still decent with seemingly better uptimes.

I use ipowerweb.com.

$166 for two years gets you 500 MB storage, 50 pop3 email accounts, 4 GB transfer, shopping cart, CGI, and a helluva lot more, including backups…

Hmm, that’s good news, Xash. Right now, reliability isn’t a big issue with me (I’d store the entire website on my own hard drive, anyway). I just want lots of space with lots of bandwidth.

Question on the bandwidth issue… does it refer to the total amount of information that my page is allowed to transfer at any given time, or the amount I’m allotted for the month, like cell phone minutes?

In that case I’d probably go with them. Since you have an entire back up in any case, and since a few days of down time won’t adversely affect you. And in the worst case you can just switch your hosting provider.

Bandwidth is the total data transfer for the month. Which means that if your website has a 10MB video that is viewed about 300 times you’ll hit your monthly 3GB bandwidth limit. Your bandwidth limit may also include your ftp uploads, but you’ll have to confirm that.

Another thing you’ll have to check is their policy on excess bandwidth use. Do they disable the account for the rest of the month if you reach your limit or do they charge an exorbidant fee per MB for every MB above the 3GB bandwidth limit. Note that if they do the latter, your cc will be automatically charged and you won’t be eligible for any refunds. They do offer a control panel through which you can monitor your bandwidth usage, so you know when you’re approaching it.

You can clarify all these points on their message board. They seem to have good response times on that board.

They note that they charge $1.50/Gb on their lowest plan.

Ok, I signed up with FuitadNET.com

I took the Bronze hosting ($4.95 per month) for one of my domains for one year.

It’s awesome. Totally awesome. The options are incredible. If you see the admin control panel (cPanel) you will be amazed at the options you have as an admin. There is a demo of the admin panel on their website as well. I preferred cPanel over Ensim.

The speed is excellent.

I was a bit unsure of the tech support, but I got to test that out as well. I connect from behind a firewall at work, and was having trouble connecting to my ftp server. It just hung after entering PASV mode. PORT mode wouldn’t even connect.

So, I started looking around for their tech support options. Found a Live Chat option. Spoke to a tech called Matthew. He was extremely helpful and very very patient. I was online with him for about 30mins trying out all sorts of permutations and combinations of ftp clients, settings, etc. He even opened up a test account on a different server so I could see if it was a server specific or client specific problem. It turned out to be server specific and he asked me to open a ticket.

I opened a ticket, and detailed the problem and the exchange I had with the tech staff earlier. I gave them the details of the other server to which I was able to connect successfully. They did a comparison check and changed some settings on my server. My issue was resolved in 48 hours.

The admin options are really really good. You can set up a bulletin board in under 2 minutes. It’s all pre-configured.

The feature I liked best is their Add-on domain feature. With this option, you can host an extra domain on the same web space at no extra charge. So, basically, you can run 2 websites independent of each other for the price of one. I’m doing exactly that right now. Saved me hosting charges for the second domain.

I’m sold. I’m shortly moving all my domains to fuitad. Thanks, SPOOFE, for bringing the site to my notice

If you have further questions, do let me know.

Well it seems to be a done deal for some folks and Fuitadnet, but I just wanted to chime and say that my company has its domain hosted on Lunarpages, and they’ve worked out just fine.
