Thank you all for your kind words! It really helps to hear from other folks who have not succumbed to the Bridal Industrial Complex. We’re lucky enough to have creative family and friends that have offered to help with invitations, music, etc. Daniel’s sister got married here in town last summer, and she and her husband have given us lots of good advice as well.
CrazyCatLady, I’ve vowed not to allow any wedding magazines in the house, although Daniel finds them hilarious. They all sound like they’re written by the mean, clique-y girls from junior high.
GrizzRich, that’s a terribly sweet offer, but I’m not sure we’ll make it out to Ohio. 
C3, I’ll definitely check into the American Humanist Association. That’s a great idea. I’ll probably also talk to the local Unitarian minister as well.
