Yub Yub, Commander!!!
(Wedge fucking RULES!!!)
Oh, and you might want to also read Starfighters of Adumar too. THAT was freaking hysterical.

Denis Lawson is plenty busy in the UK. He’s been in a whole bunch of stuff recently.
I also remember him from The Kit Curran Radio Show.
You see I never liked the concept of The Force too mystical, just turn off your targeting computer and let magic save the day. That is why I like Wedge, he is a better pilot than Luke in fact he saved his ass when Luke couldn’t shake a Tie Fighter in the Death Star attack and does it with his own skill. Wedge doesn’t have Ben’s ghost whispering in his ear giving him instructions, he is a pure stick & rudder combat pilot.
Wedge wasn’t incredibly good-looking, didn’t have a mysterious past or an evil absentee father, had no annoying personality quirks… he was just an ordinary guy who happened to be a terrific pilot and a brave Rebel. Part of why I like him is that he reminds us that the Rebellion wasn’t all the Luke, Han and Leia Show.
Wedge is one of the greatest heroes of the alliance IMO. He was an awesome pilot and did it all without those cheap force powers…
I have a much greater interest in the non-magical characters than those blessed with force powers. I haven’t read many of the books but the ones I did read made me love Akbar, Wedge and Talon Karrde the most.

“Are POO and ASS taken?”

I have to admit, that gave me some goose-bumps!
Well,
he did have two dead parents. And then there’s the issue of who his sister married…
In the movies.
I mean, I’m sure even R5-D4 had an intricate backstory in the books.
Nice to see that there are some other Wedge fans on SDMB. I’ve been a Wedge fan ever since I saw the first movie. I liked him at first because of his green helmet. But when I read the Rogue Squadron books and played the game, I becam a full-fledged fanboy. And while I don’t focus on Star Wars like I used to, I’m still a Wedge fan through and through.
Arguably, then, Wedge had a **very **mysterious past, since we knew absolutely nothing about it.
Even the Gonk droid has an intricate backstory.
It got a little silly for a while.
I thought I was weird when I thought Wedge was cooler than that upstart, Luke, who started bossing around everybody out of the clear blue.
THRILLHO
Also, what the hell was the deal with Porkins? That guy sucked. It was like they stuffed a fan into the movie.
Don’t forget Wes Janson? Wes is the MAN!!!
What’s the music in the OP’s link? I could swear I know it from somewhere, but I can’t place it.
Wedge does indeed rock. I’ve heard that Denis Lawson also does some voice work - aha! As Rogue Leader in the Star Wars game. I thought he’d also done some in some of the Star Wars novelization recordings, but I might be misremembering.
It’s true. There would be no “Yub yub, Commander” without the comedy stylings of Wes Janson.
Checking Wiki’s entry on the composer and song title, it looks like ‘Battle Without Honor or Humanity’ has been in a bunch of movies and commercials.
Kill Bill.
