The episode titles were recently revealed – all will drop August 6th:

I guess now is a good time as any to start this thread and close the older one. @What_Exit please do the honors.

Open spoilers for part one only. A separate thread will be created for part two which drop September 3rd

My only hope is that this is more family and less school than the first season.

Was that Steve Buscemi in the trailer?

Yes, I believe he’s the new headmaster.

Cool beans! I couldn’t totally tell from his face, but I’d recognize that voice anywhere.

I’m halfway through the first episode and @Elmer_J.Fudd

minor spoiler about more or less school setting

So far it seems it will be even more school as the family is - maybe - moving closer.

Anyway, I’m a bit wary.

I had some problems about the overall plot of S.1. If she hated the school and is a teenage psychopath/sociopath anti-hero, why was she so gung-ho on saving it? That was talked to death back then, but it does tie in to a theme I’m getting here, i.e. is she going to save the school again, sprinkling sarcastic and morbid quips along the way?

And I get a HP & Hogwarts vibe with the different frat (and sorority?) houses. And some outcasts are “davincis?” WTF? And for the love of all makeup artists - what’s up with CZJ’s face? It looks as if made by a cheap AI.

I’m hoping it improves. I really am.

Watched episode 1 – not sure I like how Pugsley is being handled, but time will tell. Have to mention that spiders are not insects (and tarantulas are somewhat distant to true spiders*), but easily fixed with Eugene saying “in addition to bees I can control some insects and spiders” I’m guessing we will not see him controlling crawdads.
I don’t think Wednesday was/is really gung ho about saving the school – it was saving herself and the school was just a side effect.
Haley Joel Osmet played the serial killer – definitely did not recognize him.

* at least that is my understanding after 5 min of wikipedia

I think they made it clear that Wednesday just enjoyed the mystery of solving the murders, that was it. After that she started caring some for her friends, but she really was in it out of pure curiosity. Specially since she was writing a murder book.

A nice surprise to see Billie Piper. I’ve never seen her play someone so arch.

I am a bit surprised about this thread. In the previous thread there seemed to be a great deal of anticipation about the new season: people were excited it was about to arrive. Now most seem pretty lukewarm–and there is not that much discussion.

I liked it but less than the first season. But then I am fairly fickle.

A 3 year gap after 1 season is a lot to overcome.

I’ve only watched the first two episodes so far and I am enjoying it very much.

When she was possessed by Lady Cassandra in Who. Or on Penny Dreadful.

This season so far has been…meh. Perfectly fine extruded entertainment product, but not much to say about it.

This is one of those shows where set design, a few good jokes, and excellent casting are doing the heavy lifting for a tired premise and forgettable plot.

What plot?

I mean, I’ve seen two episodes and I struggle with where they’re going:

• Wednesday has lost her power?

• Pugsley’s zombie?

• Morticia and her mother?

• Saving Enid?

• Is Steve Buscemi a bad guy?

It’s just a lot of random plot lines scattered which will be cliffhangered before the break and will either be squandered (LOST style) or tied together as a wink-nudge Aren’t we clever?’

And I’m really starting to dislike that this feels more and more like they stole a lot of stuff from the Harry Potter-verse.

Part 2 trailer (pretty spoilery)

I’ve only watched the first episode so far, and I agree with a lot of what I’ve read here. I, too, am getting a Hogswarth vibe. There was a lot going on in the episode, so I’ll see where it goes, but I hope to goes somewhere. I enjoyed it, but not as much as the Season 1 premiere. That said, I’m looking forward to a good season.

That seems to be the new normal in our Brave New Streaming World. In the old broadcast network days of yore few viewers are going to perk up 3 years after the last new ep. of say MASH or Dallas and come back in like there was no such gap at all.

I thought Wednesday was a Creepy Goth Girl with a Heart of Gold, in a Sherlock Holmes (the BBC series with BC to be specific) way, but not following the show I could be wrong.

When I first saw Billie Piper pop up on the show, I couldn’t help but think that her character is going to turn out to be evil. And nothing about the rest of the first batch of episodes has made me think otherwise. It would be a reprise of Season 1’s strategy, casting a fairly big-name actress and then giving her hardly anything to do early on before pulling the dramatic reveal.

In an entirely suprise twist, it is going to be a Doctor Who crossover.
