I know an extraordinary number of drug dealers (considering I don’t do drugs, I mean) and, where I’m at (about an hour north of Mpls, MN), you can’t find weed for anything but I could walk to the gas station a couple blocks away and run into a half dozen people I could get meth, oxycontin, methadone, etc. from if I wanted to.
If I really, really wanted to, I could probably find somebody who could find somebody in the metro who would sell a short bag of shit weed for probably close to $100/oz. Hardly seems worth it.
Weed, up here anyway, is apparently out.
If it were legal (meaning it would no longer have any potential at all to interfere with my career, education, etc.; like Dio, I don’t care so much about the “breaking the LAW, omg” aspect) I’d smoke it. Not because I like getting stoned (I really didn’t last time) but because I know a small amount in the evenings would help me sleep.
Can you save me a spot in line? If saving a place in pot lines legal, that is…wouldn’t want you getting in trouble on account of me,
It’s been years since I partook–my connections moved away or they stopped smoking themselves. I never felt comfortable asking someone I didn’t know well about scoring pot, so that was it. I never smoked to “get wasted”, just a puff or two to take the edge off and alter my reality to enhance my enjoyment of music, movies…stuff like that. I don’t hold out much hope for legalization, but if it happens, I’ll be a mighty happy camper.
Wonderful stuff, cannabis. It’s always taken the edge off my mild-but-everpresent social anxiety and the nagging shoulder pain–far more effective than Lexapro and Tylenol, respectively.
Also, add me to the tally of Dopers who are really glad to see the openmindedness of those who don’t partake. Way too much is illegal already here in the purported land of the free…
I’m going to assume “legal” means it’s also like alcohol in that it won’t cost me my job if I use it. I’ve never tried it, but I totally would if it were legal in that sense.
Yes, with a loose definition of toke. I don’t smoke anything because there’s so much cancer in my family and I have asthma to boot, but if pot were legal I’d try it in baked goods at least once for sure.
This goes for me as well, with the minor change that I don’t smoke at all these days. None of my friends do anymore, so I have no motivation to either. (Hooray for peer pressure…) shrugs I guess it’s just one of those things young people do, and then eventually get bored with. But if it was legalized, I’d have to at least celebrate once.
The idea of smoking anything has never appealed to me, and I rarely want to feel out of it, so I voted No. When I want to alter my mood a glass of wine works a treat, and doesn’t stink up the place.
Never tried it, and I would certainly never smoke it or anything else. I’m surprised that the number here is so heavily no.
I suppose if it were legal I might try it in a cookie. But I’ve never even been tipsy, much less drunk. I’ve been around people who have been intoxicated on all sorts of stuff. It really doesn’t look like that much fun on the occasions they don’t look miserable.
From the other responses, I think I run a little against the grain. I *like *the occasional altered state, and I like smoking (pipe tobacco, non-inhaled). Though to be fair, I’ve known very few people who legitimately enjoy the smoking aspect of weed - some, yes - with very high-quality stuff. It’s practically a non-issue though, because vaporizers have become much more commonplace and affordable, and thc butter & baking is handy as ever for a buzz on the go.
If the bill passes, I would be a happy man. I got the same problem as a lot of people in this thread with regards to being way too sensitive to the stuff. Add in the fact that people here only smoke the ridiculous high-bred strains, even one toke is a very risky proposition which usually results in "hey I guess that was okay stuff maybe I buy should some off him l- OHSHIT

Needless to say I don’t really touch anything anymore unless it’s in chewable form and I’ve done a cautious test or two for dosage.
For those who were curious earlier, I just looked up current prices in the paper: $30-$60 an 1/8th, with a couple saying -ALL TOP 1/8S @ 45 CONTRIBUTION
There’s one here that’s selling “Grade A Mango and Trainwreck at $245/oz Tax Included + Free Delivery” which seemed a bit nuts, until I noticed that despite the fact this is a San Jose paper, the delivery number was a Humboldt area code.
Maybe this needs its own thread, but what’s the current consensus on the whole long term brain damage thing? It’s hard to know what is good information. Much comment on the subject comes either from the “Drugs is bad, dope will turn you into a paranoid killer zombie” school, or the “Dope will save the world” school.
Age is doing quite enough to my brain as it is without me dumbing myself down any further.
I might light up once to celebrate the change in the law, but that’s it. I was an occasional user for years, mainly at parties, until I admitted to myself that I just didn’t like it. It either did nothing or it made me sleepy.
