Isabelle Sanford, Louise “Weezy” Jefferson, has died at the age of 86.

Curse you, Superdude! I thought I’d gotten this one.

Neither of you did. Doesn’t anyone read before posting?

I had the first thread! I had the first thread!

Thanks, Eve.

Boy, it says a lot about my day that I’m gloating over this!

Yeah, I saw yer thread, Annie. But that was after I posted here, so I figured I’d quite while I was still ahead, in a manner of speaking.

“Quit” while I was still ahead. :smack:

And I did make an effort to scan the Cafe Society page before I posted, thankyouverymuch, Eve. So neener.

Weezy played a maid in the forgotten 1972 TVM “The Great Man’s Whiskers,” in which a little girl (Cindy Eilbacher) is visited by President Abraham Lincoln (Dennis Weaver).

Weezy does a memorable (or at least unforgettable) rendering of a song based on the old adage “From ghoulies and ghosties and long-leggedy beasties, And things that go bump in the night, Good Lord, deliver us!”

In an ep of Eddie Murphy’s “The PJs,” Thurgood (Murphy’s character) sets down to listen to his latest “Classic on Tape”: “Moby Dick as read by Isabel ‘Weezy’ Sanford.” A very low gutteral voice starts growling, “Call. . . me. . . Ish-mael. . . . . . . . . My God. . . ! This book is eight. . . hundred. . . pages. . . long!”
