Weight Watchers Support Group

These last few days have been really rough. Normally I can’t eat enough to use my points. Now, I’ve got cravings up the ying-yang and am giving into them after a week of not giving in. My normal cravings run to the savoury/meat side but this last week the sugar cravings have been rampaging.

Usually, come Tuesday (my weigh in night) I have 35-40 points to use by that night. As of 1230pm today I’ve used all my points - from having borrowed yesterday - so anything else I eat today will be borrowed from tomorrow. Methinks that come Tuesday I won’t be able to eat owt! I want to wire my gob shut! ARGH!!!

Yesterday I wasted 10.5 pts on 3 oatmeal raisin cookies from Subway. But dang did I enjoy them!! My mouth waters just remembering them.

Today I’ve had 2 Cadbury’s Creme Egg ice creams and a sausage roll from the butchers…

As a redeeming factor, I did find a yummy recipe that ya’ll may like that is 0-1 point per serving…
Baked Aubergine
*Pre-heat the oven to gas mark 6 (325/350?)
*Take an aubergine (egg plant) and cut it in half length-wise, score it with criss-crosses without cutting through the skin
*Place both halves on a baking tray and add the following: olive oil (1tsp each half or leave off for a 0 point veg), paprika, lemon juice, finely sliced garlic, and salt/pepper to taste
*Bake for about 30 minutes then enjoy!!
To prevent the garlic from burning or going crispy, poke the dices into the scores. Also, this recipe serves 2. It came from the WW magazine this month.

Hope you had a wonderful birthday curley chick!

Thanks for the pep talk Anahita. I’m hoping that even with these last few days being crap that I should lose a bit regardless.

Washte, have you tried fruit for those cravings? I find peanut butter, grapes, and canteloupe satisfy those sugar cravings. Try the 2-points bars from WW, as well.

Thanks for the idea Ginger. I may get to the green grocers tomorrow for more fruit - which I adore. Have to be careful with fruit though. TMI

Apples go right through me whilst bananas do the opposite.

Melons are lovely, but very expensive over here. I do frequently have cottage cheese and peaches, or pineapple, though.

It’s just weird for me to want sweets, but can’t seem to quench the craving. Think I may try a litre of sugar-free orange squash.

Cantaloupe…mmmmm Haven’t had any in years!! Sounds gorgeous.

Last week our leader had the new limited edition strawberry and chocolate crisp bars. I splurged and bought a box. They are wonderful as well as filling. Do you think they’d be easy to make at home?

I’ve stuffed myself tonight with cauliflower - a handful raw and half a small head cooked - and tuna fishcakes. All together only about 4 points or so (haven’t worked it out yet).

Hopefully this is just a weird phase and it’ll go away soon…

I’ll drink my squash and have a cuppa tea, then call it a day.

hello everyone!

i wrote a few weeks ago, all proud of myself for having lost almost seven lbs. here it is a few weeks later, and i am STILL at seven lbs! i had a crazy week last week, though–two wedding showers and a bachlorette party, so i guess it’s ok.

this week, though, brought home the travelling journal–we rotate it, week to week, and everyone sees it. i’m determined to lose this week, come hell or high water.

my clothes are getting baggier, though–such a good feeling!

congrats to everyone who has had such success with it. it’s such a great plan, isn’t it?

Are BFLrs welcome??? (she asks humbly).

BFL?? Birds in Forrested Landscape??? British Football Leaguers??

Care to share?

Regardless, of course your welcome!!

I’ve been finding it really hard lately, too, Washte. With 20lbs down, I’m barely 1/2 of the way to my goal and I am just annoyed with the whole thing.

I’m sure in my case it’s hormonal (PMS, or something). The cravings are way worse during this time of the month and I literally have to force myself to chug down water to fight them.

I’ve tried a new natural product called “HelixSlim” (made by BioForce) and it seems to fight the worst of the cravings. It’s made of Jerusalem artichokes, and even if it’s just a placebo effect, it does help. Warning: It tastes so disgusting! It’s like really strong artichoke flavoured water. Bleargh. 15 drops into a small amount of water before meals (3 times a day) does help. It makes you FEEL full. Again, probably just snake oil, but it’s helping.

I’ll have a looksy for the funky water tummy filler. Sounds very foul though…

I’ve also been curious about Adios. Anything to kickstart the loss.

Today is going better in that I know I’ve only 17 points (from 28) to play with. So what I’ve done is plan dinner points, then brekkie points and now have about 5 to play with throughout the day. This will allow me full points again tomorrow.

Have you heard of the Wendy plan? I’ve read about it on the WW website on the boards there. Sounds interesting and is supposed to restart the body’s metabolism/food burning ability. If you’re interested, let me know and I can find out more info for you.

No, what is the Wendy Plan? If there was a Wendy’s here, I’d eat there!

(No, I really wouldn’t. Seriously, I feel SO FULL now after my artichoke water fix!)

It’s the humps that are hardest to get over. If you’ve had a bad day, it’s so tempting to just let it carry over and have a bad few days/bad week.

In fact, in the middle of this journey of weight-loss, I had one entire month where I didn’t stick to points at all and ate crap. Needless to say, it set me back a lot and I don’t want to go back there.

Wanna hear something odd? John thinks the place I’ve lost the most weight is my face. Fair enough. But the second? My back! I didn’t even know my back was fat to begin with.

The Wendy’s plan is a way in which you distribute your points over the week. It ends up that you’ll spend something like (on a range of 18-23) 18 points on two days, 20 points on two days and, like, 28 on one day or something. It basically has you varying greatly how mcuh you eat every day.

It does recommend itself pretty much only for people on plateaus, however.

Our leader has us to 18-22-18-22-18, etc. She says this kick starts your body to lose weight. Some people do just the same points for the whole week.

I’m not really on a plateau, I guess. Just feeling SO BLOATED and lazy.

Anahita I would absolutely LOVE to have a Wendy’s here. I miss the chicken sandwiches so much… YUM!!!

Based on 18 points a day, the Wendy plan points are as follows (as found on the UK WW site):

Day 1 = 14
Day 2 = 19
Day 3 = 15
Day 4 = 30
Day 5 = 14
Day 6 = 18
Day 7 = 16

If you are on more points just add the extra points onto the above figures accordingly.

So, does everyone follow a range of daily points or is it primarily the US peeps? Do you find it useful to stagger your points Anahita?

Normally I just stick to my alloted points (28) and that’s it. Due to this week being so rough I’ve had to borrow points from the following day. Today I’ve stuck with what few points I have left, so tomorrow I should be back with full points.

Washte, I do find it helpful. I’m on 22-18-22-18-22…

See, the ‘holding back’ days, the 18 point days, I get a feel for what it’ll be like when I get down low enough that I’m on 18 points all the time. I also get a chance to actually feel hungry, and to deal with it, via some strategies I have (HelixSlim, drinking water, walking, surfing)…

Oh, if I’m not mistaken, the points are different in the States than they are in the UK/Ireland. I believe the actual point values of different foods are calculated differently. I’m not sure if this is valid now, but before they revamped the program, the points were lower in the UK/RoI than they were in the States. FYI.

Aye. I’ve noticed the differences when reading the WW forums, the other weight loss support thread and even this thread.

I am very proud of myself today. Only had 17 points to work with and I’ve just added up everything - even having roast pork, roast tatties, mash and veg (7 pts for everything). Came out spot on. Didn’t go over the 17 points!!! Yay me!!

This may appear boastful but, with how this last week has been, it has taken a bit of willpower not to go down and have a cheese spread sarnie, or a PBJ and glass of milk.

After weigh in on Tuesday, I may try staggering my points. If I may be so forward as to ask Anahita, but are you on 20pts, and just balance the 22/18 accordingly? I’m just wondering if I should try that, or work out the points for the Wendy plan…

Tomorrow I’m making banana and malteaser (Whoppers, maltballs) cakes. Only 1 point each. If anyone would like the recipe, just holler.

Sounds weird, but I’m really looking forward to having cottage cheese and peaches tomorrow!!

I’m on 22, but hold back to 18 every second day. I started out in WW (this time) on 24-20-24…so when you lose weight, your point range gets reduced.

Doing the every-other-day holding back thing helps when you cross the threshhold to a new points limit.

Yum. I don’t think I could do Malteser cakes without eating every single one of them before the oven was preheated.

Ingredients :
*210g packet of low fat sponge mix
*1 med egg
*1 small banana, mashed
*2 x 37g pkts of malteasers, crushed.

Instructions :
*oven to gas mark 6
*make up sponge
*add other ingredients
*mix together
*spoon into 20 cases
*bake till golden
*cool & munch if you can wait for them to cool down that is!

why would the points be different in different countries?! i’m befuddled by that. for me, my point range is 21-25/day, and of course you can add the “activity points” to boost that up a bit, but i rarely do…or at least, i try not to! i haven’t heard of staggering points…interesting concept. are you just absolutely starving on the lower point days?

Consider yourself lucky Anahita. I’ve lost all the weight that I’m supposed to but still have a significant portion of “fatback”. I just can’t seem to get rid of the “love handles”.

If any of you don’t have a WW calculator (my wife had to have one) or slide rule, this link fits nicely into an Excel (or Lotus) spreadsheet.
