He’s probably fare a LOT better if he represented Rangel’s district, rather than his own. OK, he’s a New York City congressman which equates to liberal Democrat, but his district is probably one of the least liberal in the city, it consists of old established mostly white middle class neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens, many with large Italian and Jewish populations…the kind of people who might really frown on sending wienie pics to young ladies.
I don’t much care because he’s not my congressperson, but I was a little cheesed off because I felt sorry for him that first day, mostly because someone attempted to hack my facebook account on the same day…of course then his story fell apart.
The hypocrisy here is not that Weiner wanted people to think he was holier than thou. The hypocrisy here is that he wanted people to think he wasn’t a 16 year old boy. It makes you doubt his maturity at least a little bit.
Oh yeah, and blaming it on hackers? Anonymous should get into his website and start streaming porn or something.

I have to admit, I would have totally bought Weiner’s line … the whole package, in fact … except for his ridiculous claim that he could not say whether or not that was his object d’underwear in the photo. It’s one of the stupidest claims I’ve ever heard. And thank God, I posted to that effect! Dodged a Weiner on that one!
Why is this story being spun as something that “puts Dems on defensive” and that “Weiner now a political liability” to quote the YahooNews headlines?! 
Were any prominent Democrats, in Congress or out, openly supporting him, or even doing the “let’s wait and see” thing, after the story broke but before he confessed?
If not, and if he didn’t run on a “family values” platform, I don’t see how this incident is a liability for anyone but Weiner himself in his district with his voters and financial supporters.
I see in the article that his wife is named Huma. Huma Abedin. I can see why she didn’t take his last name. This whole thing is like a bad comedy routine. A politician can survive almost anything but being the butt of so many good jokes is going to make it difficult.

It was immature and stupid. How the hell he could do something like that in an age that everything you do comes out, beats me. There are no secrets, especially on line. How could have have been so stupid?
He should be well aware the Repubs are investigating every inch of Dems lives. So he gives them plenty of fuel for a huge fire. He has no defense. He can only hope a big story comes along and pushes him off the front pages.
That must have been an extremely tough press conference to hold.
That was the odd thing last week, when he was still claiming that he had been hacked. That he wouldn’t say if the photo was really of him. I mean, it looked clearly like a self-portrait (as opposed to one secretly taken by someone else in a locker room), and as Bill Maher pointed out, most of us know already how many crotch shots we’ve taken.
It wasn’t a sexual imbroglio, but I was somewhat less than shocked when Pat Swindall ended up on the wrong side of the law…
I wonder if Danny Pudi has been signed to play Weiner in the movie yet.
