I do a lot of work with the Off Off B’way theatre company in NYC.
I run the FaceBook page for the company and I sometimes make ‘pages’ for the larger productions.
I did this over a year ago for a show called Cucumbers. It’s listed as a ‘musician/band’ because FB is not theatre friendly. Anyway the play went up, ran, and closed over a year ago but I didn’t take the page down.
But recently…
The page has been getting ‘likes’ from what looks like teenagers for the last few weeks. I have no idea why. If there is a real band called Cucumbers, I would think this page was obviously not them.
I sent a message to two of the new likes and never got a response. Are all of these fake profiles liking Cucumbers for some nefarious reason?
There was a Reddit meme about cucumbers recently. I can’t find the original image, but it was a Penthouse Letters-style embarrassment story about a girl who got caught using a cucumber in a NSFW way. It led, as stuff on the internet does, to a bunch of additional images and jokes about “bad cucumbers.” I wouldn’t be surprised if your Likes were related.
It was an ad for dildos. Some girl came home and her boyfriend informed her that her parents had dropped in to visit. She said there was no food for anyone and he said that there wasn’t much but he’d made some sandwiches from a cucumber in the fridge. Said girl looks horrified. I’d post a youtube link but I can’t from work.
