Someday I’m going to write a novel and this is going to be the final line.
The woman was probably named Wendy.
I wouldn’t be shocked at all if the police or whoever showed up and applied a small amount of downward pressure on the window and her arm was able to slide out. I think she probably could have done the same if she was rational.
Does your area paper have a Police Log? I would be extremely curious to see how this was written up.
Love it. Really.
How are these people doing things to themselves? One poor guy had someone cut off his genitalia. The other guy was in a traffic accident. True, he wasn’t dressed in the safest manner, but I wouldn’t consider somehow who wasn’t wearing a seat belt and dying in an auto crash to be a ripe opportunity for letting the jokes fly. While the woman in my example was no doubt a bit outside the cultural norms, I don’t think anyone would have considered what she was doing to be a potentially life threatening activity.
The point is, these are real people who just had utterly horrific things happen to them. I really don’t understand how these are situations to be made light of, while a joke about a hypothetical situation involving something less traumatic that never even occurred incurs such wrath.
Rarely is there ever a situation in real life where hiring a Mime on short notice might be worth the money.
You had a cellphone. It was after you called 911. And uploaded a video to YouTube.
Welcome to the Straight Dope. Really, if you can make a pun out of it you’re golden. If not, well, rot in hell.
Ha, that’s a good point. Rape puns may be perfectly acceptable.
What if I can make an anagram?
We might accept it but it better be really good.
Bag chew titmice putt a gibbered telly tooter?
People in pain sometimes aren’t a whole lot different than animals in pain. You don’t get mad at your dog for biting you when you try to help with a broken leg, do you? Honestly, some people just don’t know how to handle stress/panic; it’s up to those around them to do so.
I don’t fault anyone for wanting to leave, but when you back up and look at the situation, you can’t just REACT to someone else’s bad day. I’d vote for calling for help, and sticking around…albeit inside, lol.
You jerks are starting to make me feel like an asshole and I really don’t appreciate it. If I ever encounter an odd situation like this I’ll try very hard to be more tolerant.
Nope. Unfortunately.
