Welcome and advice for a newborn!

Hullo, RJ, and welcome to the world.

Always remember: you can’t be anything you want to be. You can only be who you really are. Be the best RJ that you can. This is a good thing, and saves you a lot of time and trouble trying to be what others want you to be.

I am kinda new around here, so I have another word of something like wisdom. When you’re new around someplace, walk in, look 'em in the eye, and be the best You you can be. That’ll most likely work, and if it doesn’t, you’re in the wrong place. Don’t be afraid to walk out. (This here’s a good place. Maybe we’ll see you around someday.)

“Work like you don’t need the money. Love like you’ve never been hurt. Dance like nobody’s watching. Sing like nobody’s listening.”

You will understand most of those when you’re older and can stand up and stuff. For now, concentrate on the second one; it’s the most important. The people who love you can help show you how.

This is all wonderful advice, and I certainly appreciate the words of wisdom (as I’m sure he will). I haven’t told his mommy and daddy yet, but I will soon - and then they can show the thread to him in a couple of years or so. Maybe more.

Have a direction in life.

It doesn’t matter what, but try not to “drift into things”.

That said, sometimes it will happen.

Try to make certain it happens only when you are taking advantage of a sudden opportunity.
