In preparation of a series of threads I’m thinking about doing about long-standing SDMB members, I have been surfing trhough the user profiles.
It has come to my attention that yesterday, we reached our 61,000th member, and are still adding them.
So I’d like to extend a hearty non-official SDMB welcome to tatinadine!
I’d also like to welcome those who have joined since: windspank@hotmail.com FelixKat930 Allerguc31 JHR1 timothyg sean284 frank o’fobe Spooky Sprite ducktard 1D-10T toadbriar.com
and Katgram
I suppose I have to qualify my remarks by saying that we have over 61,000 registered usernames. Some have been inactive for years, a few have been banned, etc.
My initial delvings into the records suggest that among the very earliest 99ers, only about 1 in 6 is still active. If this holds across the membership, then we are a group of about 10,000 active paid members, which is still larger than some cities and countries.
Of course, initial registration still grants you a free month of participation – it’d be interesting to see what percentage of the “hey, this board looks like fun – I’ll sign up” crowd decides to pony up the dough come payin’ time.

And we veterans know all too well what kinds of apparently unvanquishable beasts are running (and swimming, and… ) around the Perfect Master’s chambers at any given time!
By the way, we’re now up to 61,027 registrants with the additions of
Hooray!
I’m glad to finally join. I’ve been lurking for ages, as my husband
can attest. At least a couple times a week I have to read snippets aloud
to him when he wonders what I’m giggling at. Invariably he asks, “do
you even post there yet?”
I’d like to welcome all our newest members. Please line up over here… one line will have the goat first, the second the calamari, and the third the whipped cream. You’ll be rotating stations, so everybody will have a chance to experience the full initiation ritual.
