Welcome our 61,000th (plus) new member(s)!

In preparation of a series of threads I’m thinking about doing about long-standing SDMB members, I have been surfing trhough the user profiles.

It has come to my attention that yesterday, we reached our 61,000th member, and are still adding them.

So I’d like to extend a hearty non-official SDMB welcome to tatinadine!

I’d also like to welcome those who have joined since:

frank o’fobe
Spooky Sprite

and

Welcome all!

My, how the board has grown. Ditto on the welcome. May the Dope be with you.

By leaps and bounds.

Just since this morning, we’ve added:

midnightrambler11
ssallen
Edith Tisdale
xnaughtymex
Teius
graeme, Westbury wilts UK

Welcome, everyone!
De plane! De plane!
Merry Christmas, you old Building and Loan!

Some cities with populations of 61,000:

Greenwich, CT
Palo Alto, CA
St. Cloud, MN
Vancouver, Canada
Durham, UK

Same population as Aruba, and larger than both Monaco and the Virgin Islands.

The SDMB is growing in leaps and bounds.

I think it is time we elected a President (Cecil is King for life) and some form of a Parliament. Get a seat for SDMB in the UN.

61,000 members, eh?

That explains why the board has been so impossibly slow lately.

I suppose I have to qualify my remarks by saying that we have over 61,000 registered usernames. Some have been inactive for years, a few have been banned, etc.

My initial delvings into the records suggest that among the very earliest 99ers, only about 1 in 6 is still active. If this holds across the membership, then we are a group of about 10,000 active paid members, which is still larger than some cities and countries.

I have a fan club!

“I’m not only the president of Frank’s fan club … I’m the only member!” :stuck_out_tongue:

BTW, since my post last night, we’ve added:

caterox
keraste58
angryredplanet

and

arowana2997

Welcome! You’ve got mail!

See and they said membership would go down after they started charging. Shows what they know.

Welcome one and all.

Welcome, welcome!

Looks like we’ll have to enlarge the banquet hall for the obligatory welcoming feast!

Of course, initial registration still grants you a free month of participation – it’d be interesting to see what percentage of the “hey, this board looks like fun – I’ll sign up” crowd decides to pony up the dough come payin’ time.

Sunspace: Your mention of a feast reminded me of the Hotel California lyric

And we veterans know all too well what kinds of apparently unvanquishable beasts are running (and swimming, and… ) around the Perfect Master’s chambers at any given time!

By the way, we’re now up to 61,027 registrants with the additions of

kmac8464
Beefalo Bill
Coach Naked
gilbertcross

and lillysmiles. Welcome!

Hooray!
I’m glad to finally join. I’ve been lurking for ages, as my husband
can attest. At least a couple times a week I have to read snippets aloud
to him when he wonders what I’m giggling at. Invariably he asks, “do
you even post there yet?”

So, here I am.

This is going to be very upsetting to 539,000 Vancouverites who are going to have to be asked to leave.

Hay, my name isn’t on there and I joined yesterday. :frowning:

Glad to have you here, welcome!

You joined a month ago, user #51895. You paid yesterday.

You’re even more welcome!

Jeez, over 9,000 new names in one month!

I’d like to welcome all our newest members. Please line up over here… one line will have the goat first, the second the calamari, and the third the whipped cream. You’ll be rotating stations, so everybody will have a chance to experience the full initiation ritual.

Obviously no one ever taught you Chicago Math.

The dead vote. The living vote 3 times.

That’s 81,000 active voting members, bub.

This thread will be much more successful if we refrain from discussing Frank’s member.

Thanks.
