I almost cried when I heard the news. This story really hits home for me because my family lives in Citrus County. My brother works at the local newspaper and he told me rumors have been running rampant for weeks. I’m guessing the newsroom is going crazy right now.
I saw the video clips of Couey smiling and drinking in a bar just a few days ago. Damn him. How could someone do that to anyone, let alone a child? I wish I believed in hell so I’d know he’d be rotting in it.
A couple of weeks ago, I was at the local gas station. It was about 11AM in the morning. I heard a man talking to the clerk behind the counter, telling her to be on the lookout for a missing 9 year old girl.
Later, at 5PM, I heard the news that a 9 year old girl from Homosassa Springs was missing since around 6AM. It was odd, because although I had heard the man at the gas station, what he said had not registered with me until I watched the news.
At that moment, I wondered if I had been more aware of the man’s words at the gas station, would I have gone out and looked, and maybe have found poor Jessica before it was too late. Now I think…probably not.
Jessica, rest in peace.

It’s shit like this that makes me wonder why more people don’t believe in the death penalty or at least allowing shitsacks like this to get the fuck beaten out of them. This asshat was a registered sex offender (fat lot of good that did, huh?), so it’s not like he just suddenly went crazy and whacked the girl because he forgot to take his pills that day, and he’s got a long history of criminal behaviour, so it’s not like he was someone who “just made a mistake.” At the very least he kidnapped and murdered a little girl, and in all likelihood, made her last hours on Earth a living Hell, so why should he be allowed to continue to breathe? My cat is more human than this bipedal abortion is and while killing him won’t bring her back, it will end me having to share this Earth with him.
So what is that, like the 10th abduction in this area in the last year or so? I swear Florida is the sex offender capital of the world. What a goddamn shame.
Because it isn’t just about getting your ashes hauled–it’s about the need to kill a child.
Just one day … ONE day in the general population of whatever prison he ends up in …

I am so, so sorry for her and her family. As the father of a little boy, I can’t begin to imagine the pain her family is trying to live with. As far as his punishment, I am with many others here and the first to volunteer to kill him… oh, I’m sorry… to execute him. Those who bitch so actively for the rights of these fucks and those who oppose the death penalty should be forced to go explain this to her parents. If he had been taken out with the first offence of this kind, this little girl, the love and center of someone’s life, would be alive tonight and safe in her bed.
They have said that the death penalty in not a deterrent to crime. I say maybe not… but it’s hell on the repeat offenders
I am here in Florida and say, tell me the time and bring him out on the steps of the jail and leave him with me and anyone else who wishes to show up. There will be no re-occurance from this one.
I mostly oppose the death penalty for cases just like this, actually. If prisons were reformed in just the right way, he would wish for death to be an escape. Tons of prisoners have kids and families, and many others are as opposed to these attrocious acts as are the rest of you. Rightfully so. His life, simply put, will be living hell from the time he awakes till, well, he will probably have problems sleeping because he will never know when someone is out for him. Death would be an escape.
I hope he rots in a small, damp, smelly, prison cell.

Yeah, let’s kill all molesters before they offend again! Better yet, since children don’t lie about molestation, lets put everyone accused of it since 1982 up against the wall and shoot 'em before the pinko liberal judges have a chance to give 'em their civil rights! That’ll teach 'em to look weird! (Ever notice how the handsome ones never seem to elicit the “kill 'em all” reaction?)
Okay, seriously:
– What crime was he registered of committing in the first place?
– If it was just fondling, would it be worth it to kill or torture everyone convicted (not factually guilty mind you, convicted) of that? What good would torture have on people who are already insane enough that they disregard possible years behind prison to satisfy their lusts? I sure as heck wouldn’t risk sex with a 25 year old if it could lead to 10 years in jail, but I’m sane. I think.
– If it were kidnapping and/or aggravated rape, don’t you think the registry has been diluted by registry of statutory rapists and fondlers? So that if we must set them free, and we get notification that someone in the registry is heading our way, we know they are really dangerous?
I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that they *were * keeping track of this guy. He was on the offender list, and it was his skipping notification that allowed them to issue the warrant that snagged him. Short of assigning someone to follow every sex offender around, or keeping them all locked up indefinitely, I don’t know that there’s much hope of stopping these kinds of things from happening. 
Sex offenders are classified in four groups. Levels 1-3, with a special designation for sexual predators. Level 1 guys (low chance of reoffending, little danger to public) are not even included on the lists available to the public. I don’t know if it varies by locale, but in my area the offender list clearly states the offender level (2-3, or SP) of each entry, so it’s pretty easy to see who is considered really dangerous.
The news accounts I’ve seen take great pains to point out that the details of his 1991 conviction are sealed.
You guys need a new theme song. If somone doesn’t see the benifit in keeping a PROVEN SEX OFFENDER against a child alive you go into this same old "mob rule’ “lynch party” “kill 'em all” type of shit. There can be no judgement based on confession (he has confessed you know) or conviction or anything, huh. It’s wild-eyed anarchy or total submission with you guys. Jeez, you give me a pain. A child is dead… probably horribly. The world would be a better place without trash like this. And yes, proven crimes against children should deserve a special hell for these fucks.

It looks like it wasn’t a problem with the way the system was set up but yet another sad misadventure in the world of Florida and Children.
Well, I’ve said before people who actually do commit these crimes do not deserve to live untortured. But the problem with confession is that if we only allow such things to happen to those who do confess, do you think anyone would confess? It would lower the confession rate and thus some of them would get off, free to continue their crimes.
Whereas if we gave everyone, even those who protest their innocence, the full treatment of sodomy and the lash, we’d certainly be inflicting that punishment on many who did not even do anything resembling these crimes. Just lock 'em up. Keep 'em there if they’re that dangerous.
The guy in question, if he were guilty of everything he was charged with, falls into the “throw away the key” category with me. Firmly established reoffender.
