Last night (that would be Sunday the 7th) My husband and I got back home after a glorious long weekend back in our old stomping grounds. He had to go the his company’s plant in Fredericksburg, and we planned the trip around the Annapolis Sailboat Show. It was so great!! We drove around southern Maryland, trying to decide where we intend to live after we get the perfect Child[sup]TM[/sup] out of high school and into her own life. We spent all day Friday at the boat show - dang it was HOT!! We didn’t pack shorts because it was supposed to be cool and rainy… weather.com lied…
Saturday was to be house-hunting day, but the realtor we’d contacted ahead of time stood us up - the bum!! So we went to another’s office and got a handful of listings to check out. We found what we want - a double lot in Lexington Park, MD. Four miles from our favorite marina. The lot is about 1.8 acres and full of trees and the neighborhood is small and very nice. If we get the right answers from the listing agent, we may go ahead and buy the lot now, then build when we move up there. We can live on the boat till the house is ready for occupancy. We’re already drawing up houseplans and discussing what we can do ourselves and what we’ll contract out. Yeah, we tend to go overboard sometimes… But I’m so ready to move back to that part of the country. I’m tired of Jacksonville.
Anyway, we got back home about 7 last night, and I thought the dogs would melt down when we walked in. Mind you, our daughter stayed home, and my in-laws stayed here with her, so it’s not like the mutts were boarded. I heard that Pixel, the idiot Dalmatian, paced around every night looking for me. So once we got back, she was constantly at my side. Even today, since I’m home for Columbus Day, she’s right next to the desk, begging for scratches and tummy rubs.
My daughter, on the other hand, sorta acknowledged our return, tho she did light up when I brought out the Lindt truffles. The kid only loves me for chocolates, but my puppies were glad to see me. It’s good to be home. Can’t wait till we can move back to the shores of the Chesapeake…
Yeah, I spent a weekend in Jacksonville almost 40 years ago and I’m still tired of it too.
And this surprises you how?
Don’t worry about it, it’s SOP for teenagers.
Pretty darn good. We went up to the cabin Fri. night. Walked on the beach Saturday. Watched 5 1/2 hours of stuff we’d taped during the week. (Got half-way through SU2 and said “blech!”) Read a lot. Ate a lot.
The only bad thing was I somehow managed to leave my copy of The Return of the King there and now have to decide if I want to go pay $6.99 for a used paperback at Powell’s or wait 2 weeks 'til we go back up to get it.
Oh, and I wouldn’t scratch Rue’s tummy if I were you. You know how he is. If you put your hand down there he’ll divert your attention elsewhere and…well, it just wouldn’t be pretty.
My mom was here, and as usual she managed to upset me and make me cry, “wanting my best” of course. I just don’t see how constantly upsetting someone is “what’s best”.
My puppy fell in love with her and preferred to sleep in her lap on the couch too, but when I got home after class today, he was so happy he peed himself, so I guess he loves me after all.
You’d think I’d know better than to read this message board while eating soup - and a cream soup at that… Bumbazine, I’m proud to know you! You cracked me up!!
Well, apparently they didn’t miss me that much. While I was folding laundry today, I heard a lot of barking outside and saw to big, strange (unknown to me) dogs in my front yard, followed very shortly by my two idiot dogs… how they got over the fence, I’ll never figure. In a flash, they were gone. About an hour later, they came back. The border collie mutt was limping - she’s got a bum hip and when she goes running, she’ll limp afterwards for days. The dalmatian had superficial bites on her left side and her butt.
Stupid dogs. Can’t stay home in a nice, safe yard. Gotta escape. Gotta run wild. Gotta come home bleeding. Stupid dogs.
I want a vacation. My company only gives us Memorial Day, Independence day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and the week between Christmas and New Years off. But I would probably waste it on cleaning, anyone want to come to my house and do some major cleaning for all the soda you can drink?

I bet you just missed the signs of teenage love for parents and the fact she missed you – “Can I have 20 bucks, a bunch of us are going to dinner and the movies” Another sign of their love is to “forget” to say thank you, cause they only say that to the ones they only like.
My dog this weekend decided to not like a friend who came visiting. The friend has visited before and Sassy was ok, but yesterday she decided to be a little pain in the behind. But it is the breed, she is a pound puppy and seems to be most Rhodesian Ridgeback and a drop of Pit in her. But if you would like to trade
