Coldfire is abusing his moderator status. In my bogfoot thread, he didn’t answer my question, merely pointed me to a webpage of which I did not ask him to. When I politely (and you can check that) told him that’s not what I wanted, he smart-assly replied “It wouldn’t harm you to READ that as well you know”.

I again responded saying that it wasn’t what I had asked for, and it is irrelevant what will and won’t harm me.

He then took it upon himself to begin taking cheap shots at me, as well as locking and deleting another thread I had posted in GQ at the same time.

He then accused me of posting my question about where to write complaints to a moderator in the wrong thread, throwing in an insult.

UncleBeer then stepped in and said that I had actually posted it in the correct forum, but that wasn’t enough for Coldfire who challenged me to then write my complaint in the pit, so that “we” can all tear it to shreds. Indicating to me that no matter what I posted, it was going to ganged up on by the majority of people and “ripped” apart anyway.

Just to cap it off, Coldfire is not a GQ moderator

That is my beef with Coldfire.

You can call me a troll or whatever you like, but I feel he has acted well out of his authority. I also do not know why I am even bothering writing this, because history shows that NEVER has someone been able to file a complaint against a mod without being flamed, accused of trolling, or most importantly, history shows that a mod will never back down from his/her original actions, regardless of what is said.

That is my grudge. Take it as you will.

You should mail a Admin. and explain yourself. Once you’re banned you’re banned whatever your name is. I see you’re posting questions again in GQ. Without something being sorted out you will be just banned again.

Your point against Coldfire is wrong. He did answer your question. He linked to a site with pics. of the clip you wanted. This site also said that the video was not available on the net. Only after you got childish, with your “I don’t care I WANT IT” routine did things go downhill.

Your fault and you should try to sort it out if you want to stay here. Otherwise you’ll just become another one of these idiots who get banned come back get banned come back repeat to fade. Do you really want that?

As has been explained to you, Coldfire was helping you in that thread. If you return freely offered help with comments on the lines of “Don’t you see, that’s not EXACTLY what I wanted”, don’t expect people to be courteous or helpful to you in return. Incidentally, that’s a lesson most people pick up when they’re about six years old. I guess you hadn’t, so if this little incident has corrected that, it hasn’t been a complete waste of electrons. I have my doubts, though.

Yeah ! and one more thing:

Coldfire has been elevated to the cyber peerage at an unusual time for the US – the US being the home, home on the range of all the other mods. It’s that rare thing for them, a four day weekend and some even take a little more time off from their normal schedules to visit / argue / remember why they moved away from folks / family in a different part of the country.

Hence, the job of the mods can’t be seen as forum specific as in ‘normal’ weeks. My guess is it’s been all hands to the pump for the past week and any whining, moaning and general myopia about “it’s not his forum” should take that into account. Not that complicated if you think about it. Wanker.

Everyone runs to support their beloved mod’s. Incapable of challenging a mod’s decision as a whole majority. Why? Why is it that you can’t do that? Fear of persecution? Ruin your chances of promotion-to-mod? Your a conformist? You can’t express original thoughts and think what you are told to think?

Why is it that the members of this board are so scared to speak up as a whole when a moderator makes a wrong decision?

Can anybody answer this question? Or will you just casually avoid it, throw a couple of insults at me, accuse me of trolling, insult my intelligence, draw support from fellow posters against me, give opinions rather then facts… the list goes on. But trying to tell people who will always support their precious mod’s no matter what they do is of no use.

Well perhaps one of you people can point me to the thread where a poster came on, criticised a mod for acting incorrectly, and then the vast majority of people came out saying that yes, the moderator had stuffed up. I am only asking for one thread guys, just ONE that shows it. There are thousands upon thousands of threads on this board. Are you now going to tell me that not ONE SINGLE THREAD exists of the nature I speak of? Surely not! Well go find it, post it, and I will forever hold my peace.

Why the fuck should we suck up to Mod.'s / Admin. ? This place is full of people who would gladly stand up against a decision that was wrong or if an injustice was happening.

Your situation is basically this IMO nobody gives a fuck if you think that you were mistreated. You are a whiny asshole who adds nothing to this place so why should anybody give a fuck what you say.

The Mod.'s here basically fix code mistakes, move threads to the appropriate forums, delete spam and generally keep this place the great place it is. A lot of us here have no problem with what they do coz it makes this board a better place to hang.

If a real situation happened I can guarantee that there would be a lot of arguing going on.

Exactly what damage have you been subjected to? Everyone is defending Coldfire in this thread because a reasonable assessment of the facts indicate that’s proper. He provided a link for you that TOLD YOU VIDEO WASN’T AVAILABLE (and he is not compelled to provide you with help of this variety at all). Hence his commentary that perhaps you should actually read what he took the trouble to provide you with when you responded with “But I still want the video.”

You understand this sequence of events, correct? And that this is not an opinion? Why, then, would anyone take Coldfire to task? Why is “proof” that you’re wrong only possible with a thread where everyone circled a mod like sharks?

You want blood and you ain’t gonna get it. Mods make mistakes (though not in this case), but it’s wrong to pummel someone for being human especially when any mistakes are minor and infrequent (and indications only that, unlike Cecil, we are all less than perfect). I wouldn’t want their jobs; I imagine the heartburn is a regular and intense part of the territory. Or maybe it’s possible for them to just laugh at someone who describes the horrible “injustice” of a moderator’s decision to close a thread, for Pete’s sake.

Do a search for user name Melin you’ll see plenty of people disagreeing with the Admin.

Almost 100% of the threads about Mods are like this one. A minor point being blown up out of all proportion. You started arguing in a forum that is not about that, you were asked to take it to the pit as per the rules ( the rules you agreed to ) instead you kept it up in the wrong forum.

Why should the odd thread getting moved incorrectly etc. bother any sane person. I have seen plenty of posts from Mod.'s saying things like “I was probably a bit quick about that one” when asked. It is how you go about things that makes the difference. Doing the virtual equivalent of jumping up and down screaming like a child will do you no good what so ever.

As to the site saying there is no video. Maybe there is a video somewhere but please tell me why anybody should be arsed trying to find it for you when you act like you do.

As to whether the mods have ever done anything wrong…

Sure - threads get closed when they’re still salvagable, a few times they’ve banned people in error, and they’ve given certain twits far too much benifit of the doubt.

But, since threads with any worth can be restarted, the banned-in-error are quickly reinstated, and the left-alone-in-error quickly use up their excess benifit of the doubt, there’s nothing worth getting one’s knickers in a twist over, IMO.

I’m on the Mod/Admin’s side for all the big issues, so far, and, given what I know of the personalities of the ones we currently have, I don’t forsee that changing in the near future - I’d only fault them with being too slow to action in the Melin situation, for instance. Make of that what you will, and given the level of willful ignorance you’ve shown in both forms you’ll probably assume I’m just licking their asses, as is your prerogative.

On the other hand, anyone capable of rational thought, rather than simply knee-jerk ‘FUCK THE MAN!’ programming realises that ‘independant thought’ doesn’t require automatically thinking the worst of those in power. In fact, it’s quite obvious that it requires the ability to concieve of the fact that maybe, just maybe, they - ::[sub][sup]GASP[/sub][/sup]:: - might be right!

Men of good concience can have differences of agreement. This is, however a possibility, not a requirement.
