Well, racist boss, you finally did it

The CEO of my company is an 87-yr-old white ultra-right wing Southern Baptist and hardcore bigot and racist. If you are not a white, ultra-right wing, Southern Baptist, then you are trash. Not a day goes by when he doesn’t unleash a string of racist remarks. In fact, you can’t have a conversation lasting more than two minutes without hearing a derogatory remark. A real fun guy. Well, today he was directing the receiving guy (who is black) in putting merchandise in the warehouse. No matter how well he does it, it’s always wrong. Today the boss gets so upset he calls the guy “a damned stupid n****r”. Way to go, Einstein.

The guy asks me what he should do. I had no idea what to tell him.

Does he have any recourse? It would end up being one man’s word against another’s. The boss told me (and others) what he said.

The company has lost big business because of his racist remarks.

Another idiot tried to defend the boss’ actions by telling the guy “he’s old and doesn’t know any better”. BULLSHIT!!

If the boss told you and others what he said, it’s NOT just one man’s word against another’s. I would thing that having admitted to it to others, he is on the hook and very, very vulnerable. Don’t know what the laws are in Georgia and IANAL, but if I were that guy I’d file an immediate harassment claim. If it comes out that the company has lost business before because of this behavior they’d be fools ( and possibly criminally liable ) not to do something immediately. Like can his ass.

Get the bastard. Tell the guy to file a complaint.

And since this guy’s attitude is well known, I’d file a hostile working environment complaint on top of that!

I agree with Guinastasia

That man is a real :wally .

Show him that there are consequences for his bigotry.

I don’t know about Georgia laws, but I know that where my husband used to work (and I worked there, also, but not when this happened) that a man sued the company because another employee called him a name. There were no other witnesses around at the time. Evidently, he complained about it to his supervisor, who in turn didn’t do a thing about it. (I don’t think it was the “n” word, but it was something along those lines.)

He settled for gigantic settlement out of court, but I think he’d probably have won had he followed through on it.

Your boss is about to get a financial rude awakening, if this employee does what he should do and sue this bastard’s ass off.

The fact that he’s an 87-year-old white ultra-right wing Southern Baptist doesn’t have anything to do with him being a hardcore bigot and racist, does it?

The company has lost business because of this CEO’s racist remarks and he’s still making those remarks? That’s really strange.

Does this CEO happen to be also the sole owner?

Gerogia? Make the complaint but have the cops take you in protective cust… er no, have your southern lawyer put you in a safe hous… er no, hmmmmmm

There is right and there is dead right.

We can call all the shots we want from here because we are not getting shot at.

It is up to the guy, if he wants to do it and knows ALL the consequences of his actions, then go for it. BUT… if he is asking us, then we should be willing to put our asses where our mouths are. YMMV

I think he is the one to know what to do or should get a lawyer from that area.

The right way,
The wrong way,
The bosses way…

Open the door if you want, but I love it when people then say, “I didn’t expect that …”

Bawahahahahah!!! Who opened the door?

Why shouldn’t it?

Why mention his age, race, political views or religious views when mentioning that he is a bigot and racist? Would any of those variables (“87-year-old white ultra-right wing Southern Baptist”) correlate with higher levels of bigotry or racism than would be found in the general population?

Maybe you’re religious or old or something, but please don’t be naive.

lel–I didn’t see him say anywhere that he was a bigot and a racist because he was an “87-year-old white ultra-right wing Southern Baptist”. I saw a group of descriptions about a man, each of which told me something different…

87-year-old-----and still working? must be tough. and maybe a bit old-fashioned
white-----okay
ultra-right wing-----uh, oh. I cringe at extremists
Southern Baptist----interesting, wonder if he’s from the south? ::check OP’s location:: yep!

bigot and a racist—The Ass!

I think you’re reading too much into it—MBS was simply being descriptive, that isn’t classist or whatever you seem to think it is–it’s just good writing.

MBS—I vote for him filing a complaint immediately. Do you think taking his side would put your job in jeopardy?

bella

In this case, yes. He is every negative steroetype of those classifications. He makes Archie Bunker look like a super liberal. He’s “Old South” in every cross-burning, minority-lynching way.

He started the company in 1947. In the late 80’s, he sold it to a small group of shareholders of which he is one of the biggest stock holders. The deal was that he would continue to run the company as he always did. We have NO minority office workers or salesmen. And as long as he’s alive (which seems to be forever) we never will. It kills him that we have a woman running the office and handling all the day-to-day finances (deposits, keeping the books straight, taxes, etc).

He grew up in a very small georgia town where the blacks “knew their place” or were put it in if they got “uppity”.

Remember Vic Morrow in Twilight Zone - The Movie? There you go to the nth degree.

If the man is as extreme a racist as you say he is, I would doubt that this would be the first time he has made such a comment. Is there any way that a search could be done regarding previous court cases stemming from such a remark? I would guess it would be easier to nail the guy if he has been nailed previously. I would also guess that suing him might be prohibitively expensive unless some civil rights group would underwrite the costs. In any event, the injured party should certainly seek professional legal advice.

Sounds like the evil dead boss’ ghost from Andy Richter Rules the Universe! Say, whatever happened to that show, anyway?

[sung to the tune of Monty Pythis’s Dennis Moore]:

Racist Boss, Racist Boss, insulting whom he likes,
Racist Boss, Racist Boss: the chinks, the nigs and kikes!
He signs all our checks, so we’ll never cross
Racist Boss, Racist Boss, Mr. Boss.

“Pythis?” How the hell did that happen?!

And they are pythised off.

Maybe you’ve got a gas leak. I’d open a window.

Forget Georgia law. FEDERAL law says you have a case, and that always trumps state law, period.

Sue the subhuman fundie lice for all it’s worth.
