It’s not like it’s a Trump thing, really. For example, the town of Keene, NH argued its police force needed a surplus MRAP (basically a very heavily armoured all-terrain truck) to defend its pumpkin festival from terrorist threats. That was circa 2014.
I can almost judge the shittiness of a police/sheriff’s department by wether or not they aquired those surplus vehicles.
