Well, this sucks! And I am a huge dork.

Not until about TEN MINUTES ago, when my coworker peeked in to say “Have a nice holiday and I’ll see you Tuesday” (he doesn’t work on Fridays) did I realize that THIS weekend is Memorial Weekend!

Shit! I’d have been sitting here at 8:05 on Monday morning, wondering where the hell everybody was (and probably would have been dorky enough to stay until at least 9:00 before I figured it out)!!!

:o

The worst part is that I am BROKE. BROKE. BROKE. until I get paid a week from tomorrow! And my one consolation in my poverty was that at least I’d have money for Memorial Day Weekend…

Dork.

I’m just a giant dork.

:: points and laughs ::

Ha-ha!
[/Nelson]

That’s one mistake I never make - I live for my holiday weekends. They’re all highlighted on my calendar - along with paydays (that would be tomorrow). Plus I’m off tomorrow for more medical crap… not a lot of fun, but at least I don’t have to go to the office!!!

YAY!! I’m a huge dork too!! I just found out (by your OP, in fact), myself.

This is what happens to the unemployed.

::::sigh::::

Monday is one of my normal off days, so I tend to forget about bank day holidays. Kind of hard to get excited about a regular day off for me.

My usual trick is to get to the holiday, take it off, then have at least one anxiety attack feeling like I’m wrong and should be at work.

Maybe going it to work would be better? Naaaaa

Yup, had mine (Victoria Day) this past Monday. Didn’t even remember it until I was making out my time sheet and the secretary reminded me. That would have been one confusing morning.

This sucks, and you are a huge dork? What a coincidence! I have a huge dork, and… what? What’s everyone looking at me like that for?

Ah, poo, Already in Use beat me to the obvious suck/dork joke. Mine would have been better, though, I’m sure.

I often forget the holidays I usually end up working them since everyone else wants off, and well working in a 24/7 call center someone has to be here. But I could shoot myself for the holidays I didn’t have to work and still showed up wondering where everyone was.

So does that mean you have/ to work on Monday?

D&R

Nyah nyah nyah.

This is my third three-day-weekend in a row.

I do that all the time – I’ll putz along the work week as usual, and someone will mention the upcoming three-day holiday. I then do my usual “Oh, I hadn’t noticed I had an extra day off” routine, then enjoy the extra day off.

Nothing to feel embarassed about, IMO. It just shows how hard-working you are.

I don’t get extra days off for Memorial Day. I don’t even get extra days off for Christmas Day. I only know it’s a holiday weekend because my boyfriend is camping with his family. This is the first year in six that I haven’t been able to go. :frowning:

Hard-working, rjung? Hahahahahaha! I love it… Where is that “Favorite Jokes” thread?

I didn’t blow Memorial Day off entirely, I just thought it was next weekend!

Now here I am on the cusp of three days off with no money, no plans, and a dirty house. :frowning:

As for the dork/suck thing… I’ve never called it a “dork”… But that adds a new element to the word, for me…

Three in one solution: clean the house! It’s free, takes no planning, and you’ll have a clean house afterwards!

Or you can come hang out with me, I’m in the same boat.

I’d love to clean the house, Max… but I can’t afford to buy cleaning supplies!

I’m outta Clorox Wipes, outta Swiffer cloths, threw away my mop (with the idea that I’d buy a new one soon), and I have about three drops of laundry detergent left… do you have cleaning stuff at your house?

Been looking forward to this weekend. Going camping tonight. Get drunk & run nekkid through the woods, that’s what I always say.

Bar-B-Q tomorrow afternoon. :stuck_out_tongue:

Rave on Sunday night. Digweed!

Recover Monday.

Oh, yes. Big weekend!

Yep, but we’ll have to do my place first, then we’ll load up the supplies and attack yours.

Truly a holiday to remember!

Right on, Max! I think our little celebration could be entirely apropos for Memorial Day:

Hey, remember that thing you thought was a dead raccoon under the couch? It was just a giant dust bunny!

Remember what color the bathtub used to be, before the Comet Invasion?

Remember that Taco Bell dinner you had in January? Some of it is still under the bookshelf!

Work with me, here…
