We're 10 Hours tougher than you !

I noticed a reference in another thread concerning the “30 Hour Famine” which struck me as odd. I’ve always known it as a “40 Hour Famine”.

A quick google using ‘30 hour famine’ brings up pages and pages of .org and .com sites.

These are often American based sites, though not exclusively, so I googled ‘40 hour famine’ which brings up pages and pages of .org.au and .org.nz sites. Hmmmmmm.

I google some more and find this list of 19 countries participating in the “x hours famine”.

And I smile smugly. AHA ! Us Aussies & Kiwis are a tough breed

We can point and laugh at the weaklings overseas.

But wait, my 30 Hour Famine friends. You can turn, point and laugh at the Koreans, the Dutch and the Brits. See how much fun it is ! They can only last a measly 24 hours !

So bow down and acknowledge our 10 or 16 hour superiority !

Hey Goo, I noticed it too!

  • Bubba.

They’ve been doing 40 hour famines here in NZ for mumble, mumble years, since I was in school. Maybe th’ “4” just looked better on our ads, Goo.

But… but… but… I have three links and you only have two ! And I have a list ! And my OP laughs at the poms and the dutch ! :stuck_out_tongue:

O.K, you win

But yours has 3 (now 4) replies, and mine has none, so you win.

  • Bubba.

AHA ! Sink to obscurity underwear-boy !

Actually, I must say, I almost wet my pants the first time I saw your username. And I don’t have a weak bladder.

Now where’s the rest of the world gone ? I wanna point and laugh !

They’re probably all swooning at the thought of our superior fundraiser-fasting abilities.

I’ve never heard of this, probably because I’m an athiest. This is something run through religious organizations, right?

However I did once forget to eat for 3 days. College days, you know.

Well, yes – the one in New Zealand is run by World Vision :

In high-school in Canada I used to tease my friends about this very thing!

Just noticed it’s only 24 hours here in the UK!!

I remember doing the 40 hour one when I was about 10. All that buttersotch, still can’t eat it…

Damn they breed 'em tough down south.

Well, I dunno. Its the school’s idea. Remember, here in the north we have to keep up our strength for the Caribou and buffalo hunts… 30 hours without food is long enough to make it hard to run down and spear a wild animal…
