I noticed a reference in another thread concerning the “30 Hour Famine” which struck me as odd. I’ve always known it as a “40 Hour Famine”.
A quick google using ‘30 hour famine’ brings up pages and pages of .org and .com sites.
These are often American based sites, though not exclusively, so I googled ‘40 hour famine’ which brings up pages and pages of .org.au and .org.nz sites. Hmmmmmm.
I google some more and find this list of 19 countries participating in the “x hours famine”.
And I smile smugly. AHA ! Us Aussies & Kiwis are a tough breed
We can point and laugh at the weaklings overseas.
But wait, my 30 Hour Famine friends. You can turn, point and laugh at the Koreans, the Dutch and the Brits. See how much fun it is ! They can only last a measly 24 hours !
So bow down and acknowledge our 10 or 16 hour superiority !

Well, I dunno. Its the school’s idea. Remember, here in the north we have to keep up our strength for the Caribou and buffalo hunts… 30 hours without food is long enough to make it hard to run down and spear a wild animal…
