We're going to do the distance

Be happy for me - I’m moving to Baltimore from Chicago on Saturday, and I have been dating a wonderful girl here and was very worried about what would happen when I moved. When we started going out - four months ago - we agreed that this would end when I moved. Well, things since then have been better than I ever imagined, and I no longer felt the same ‘let it go’ way. I was worried about bringing it up because I felt like I was pulling a ‘bait and switch’ on her, by saying ‘oh yeah, when I move it is over’ four months ago and then changing my mind.

Well I brought it up tonight, and she totally agreed that things have changed and what we have is too good to just drop it like that and so we are going to do the long distance thing. I know it will be hard and might not work out, but I am so glad she wants to give it a shot!

Thanks for listening - I’m too excited to keep it in!

Good luck with the long distance thing. I’ve been doing it for about a year and a half now. It’s hard work.

Baltimore can be a very cool city, although try and figure out where the bad parts are and stay out of them. Have fun and good luck!

I had almost the exact situation with my now fiance. We had been dating for about three months before he moved to go to grad school, and decided to stay together despite the distance (I’m in Boston, he’s in St. Louis).

We’re now engaged, and getting married next May! I’ll be moving out to St. Louis in August or September. It’s hard work, but totally worth it for the right person.

Good luck!

You’re moving here? Excellent! We can always use more MADs!*
