We're late, we're late! A Monday Afternoon MMP

I wanna go on your ark!

One good thing about this Monday, the week could only get better from here. I am slouching through work today because of a cold, and I have to close on a house refinancing tonight. Wheee!

Just to amuse you again, ruble: Bill Cosby is a Very Funny Fellow…Right! That was a great album from back in the days before HBO comedy specials.

It’s raining here also but not biblical proportions.

Studying for my callback interview tomorrow. Who knew you had to study for these things.

Tupug

I’m going to Seville, weeeee!

And, despite agents’ attempts to the contrary, I will even have time to hug the family in between landing and reporting. What part of “I’m available on the 12th” is hard to understand? It doesn’t include the word “no”!

it’s raining in sheets - I had a bad night so I am staying in - but the way it’s raining my windows might even get clean

So far, the votes are split - one for the Soul as it’s newer, looks like fun and probably better on gas, and one for the Liberty as it’s not a Kia. Faint praise there.

Warranty-wise, I can buy a 36,000 mile warranty on the Jeep from the dealership, and the Kia comes with a 60,000 mile warranty.

I think that the Kia Soul is neat looking. But does the full 60K warranty transfer to you if you’re the second owner, gotti?

Blurf.

That is all.

I wish it would rain here. I am tired of dealing with idiots. Complete non-sequitur - deal with it!

blurf

It’s official. The Boy is now employed by a very large, very structured, very international corporation. He starts in three weeks.

Considering the company he currently works for has less than 50 employees and operates out of a single office in Toronto, he’s in for one hell of a culture shock. Good thing I’ve been doing a similar job for the past four years, so that I can try to prepare him as best I can.

I’m waiting to find out if his current boss has a heart attack when he gets the news. :stuck_out_tongue:

Enough bragging. Back to blurfing I go.

**gotti **- I’d go with the Kia, but I’ve never been a fan of Jeep anyway. In fact, I saw a Soul on the road the other day and decided it was cute and a potential contender should my Scion die.

**Muppet **- Yay for The Boy!

It’s been raining all day here - ick. Needless to say, we didn’t get gutters. Probably won’t get them tomorrow either. My training today was boring, but blessedly short. They scheduled 2 hours to allow for questions, but we were out in an hour and 10. So yay for that.

I’m going to try chickie and dumplins for supper using a dumplin recipe I’ve never used before. Here’s hoping…

That’s all I’ve got. Off to the kitchen for me. Back later.

gotpasswords, I would vote for the KIA. My wife has an '06 Sedona. She hated minivans, and only grudgingly accepted one as being useful when our second child was on the way. You can know have her KIA when you pry it out of her cold, dead hands. It is fun to drive and has given us no trouble. There was a sway bar issue that was fixed under warranty by the dealer in about twenty minutes and the oil filter was a new design for the '06 and was not widely available for a while. I would consider a KIA in a heartbeat if I were in the market for a new car.

gotti if for no other reason, I’d go with the Kia just because it’s newer. Then again, like MOOOOOOM I’m not a big fan of Jeeps.

Yay for the boy Muppet!

taxi chicken 'n dumplin’s should be thicker than what AB does, IMO. Mine is thicker than a soup but not as thick as a stew and very tasty if’n I do say so myself.

YP did a good job preaching this mornin’. I think it stoked him a bit to see a good number of us from St. Pat’s there.

Ok, gotta go finish makin’ dindin.

Congratulations to The Boy!

I just finally managed to lay down and fall asleep about 30 minutes ago and my dad decided to stop by on his lunch hour and all of the barking woke me up.

So now I guess I’ll just sit here until it’s time for my mom to get home from work and then I’ll start on dinner. I give up on trying to do anything else productive on this sucky day. I just don’t have the energy. Tomorrow is another day, right?

Thanks, guys. We’re pretty chuffed about it, especially since The Boy has been super-stressed about work and his long hours lately. I’m hoping once he settles into the new job, he might actually be able to get home at a reasonable hour most evenings.

…and speaking of getting home at a reasonable hour, it’s Quit O’ Clock and I am outta here. Yay! zooooooooooooooom

It’s 38 and rainy. Bleah. I haven’t gone outside today and don’t plan to. This is my absolute least favorite kind of weather. But it’s good for the plants, and the mountain has gotten a few more inches of snow and is probably getting more as I type, which makes for happy skiers which is good for my job and all.

Dindin cooked, eaten and shared. Thus endeth my weekstart. Le Sigh. Back to irk tomorrow.

I was checkin’ out the local weather forecast for the next few days. By midweek we’re predicted temps in the low to mid 80s. WOOHOO!!! Easter should be a really beautiful day. Easter lunch shall be held at da cave. All I’m doin’ is the ham cause I’m (ok, we’re cause OYKW will help with the spiffin’ up of da cave for Sunday) hostin’. All the other eats are bein’ brought in by the other ten people who will be here. I want to get the back porch depollinated if possible so’s we can eat out there Sunday since it’s supposed to be nice.

With that said, I’m off to watch teevee for a while whilst loungin’ upon the bed.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Same here, swampy. Irk tomorrow. sigh

And it’s now snowing. Big heavy wet flakes. And it’s starting to stick to my car. Driving is gonna be fun fun fun tomorrow…yesterday it was 50F and sunny. Spring in the mountains is weird.

Yay for new jobs!

I just ate dinner and now I feel a little bit better. It was pretty good for a boxed thingy, one of those Romano’s Macaroni Grill things with Angel Hair Pasta and a White Wine sauce.

I had a horrid day at the library for reasons that I don’t have the emotional energy to go into. Oh whatthehell, I’ll just post it and maybe then I’ll feel better about it (Ha! I tried that last week…)
I was sitting at my desk, busy at the puter and helping a resident when 2 guys came in and starting taking measurements and saying things like, “This’ll be a 6 ft wide corridor, and over here we’ll need to put an inset to access the plumbing…”
I said (in a somewhat timid voice) “Um, excuse me?”
They looked at me–one of them looked impatient; the other started to laugh. Truly I didn’t appreciate either response. So, not so timidly, I asked again. Turns out they work for Facilities and had been sent by “Stu” to measure to get him an estimate.
Estimate for what, pray tell?

Estimate to remove the library from its current location and shove it all in the back room (there are 2 rooms), to make a prayer place for the Muslim residents. :frowning:

Now, before you all go up in arms, there are a few things you need to know.

  1. The um, “non-Catholic” employees and staff have a prayer place already on the 13th floor.

  2. There are 12 stacks of bound serials, and 3 stacks of books. 15 stacks will NOT fit into the back room (plus the computers, the study tables, MY OFFICE etc).
So, I called my Boss Lady, whom I adore. I asked her if she knew anything about men being here to measure and take out walls. There was dead silence on the other end, then she said, “I’ll be right there.” She came over (she is located in another building) and said very quietly to Impatient Guy, “I am not happy about this. Stu must talk to me. We are not doing this.” Turns out HER boss knew nothing of it, either. The impetus for this comes from the new CEO, though.

Impatient Guy (who is really very nice) said OK, talk to Stu and went away.
Thing is, no matter how is shakes out, I will be librarying in a construction zone of some kind SOON. Just what I needed–another obstacle to learning my job (which I am still vastly ignorant of, btw–the focus group on Friday showed me that). And my lovely, lovely library, with its huge windows and lake view will be no more.
I wish I drank. Seriously. I am going into full blown Pity Party mode for tonight. :frowning:
All are welcome. First one who says cheer up or there are starving kids in Africa or at least I’ve got my health gets the Laser Glare o’ Death, Midwest-style.
