All right. I’m voting with you, then.
Unvote One and Only Wanderers.
I vote for Miller.
All right. I’m voting with you, then.
Unvote One and Only Wanderers.
I vote for Miller.
OK, but the only basis for my vote on Miller was that he was the only other person with close to as many votes as me. I need to have a reread very soon to see If i can find a better vote.
Two assumptions:
A mason would be willing to out himself/herself in order to lynch a werewolf.
Only a werewolf would lie about being a mason.
I can’t think of any reason for either of those assumptions to be wrong. So I will unvote One and Only Wanderers.
First, just for the record, are we to assume you mean to unvote One And Only Wanderers? You left out the name.
Second, what exactly do you mean by “Masons are unlynchable”? I don’t recall seeing that in the rules anywhere. Are you suggesting that it is (a rule), or are you just saying that as a matter of practice, its something that can’t be done because of the detrimental effect on the town?
There’s a question that I have been meaning to ask for a while now, just out of curiosity, regarding the Guardian Angel. Can the Guardian Angel choose to protect him or herself, or does the power only extend to helping others?
He or she may choose to protect themselves, yes.
Just wanted to delurk for a moment to say this is great reality tv!
I’m cheering for the Wolves, cause I like bloody ends.
AFAIK, Masons are not unlynchable. I think, though I could be wrong, that they have no powers other than knowing who the other Masons are. However, if you knew for sure that someone was a Mason, then you would know also that he is definitely not a Werewolf, so why lynch him? Of course, One and Only Wanderers could be claiming to be a Mason to save his neck from the noose, but I’m not willing to assert that.
As for the GA, he could protect himself every night, but it might be more prudent for his team to protect the person who it seems likely that the Werewolves would eat, right? Because then the Werewolves will have wasted their attack that night, and they don’t get to pick someone else.
Which means, (to extrapolate,) that he or she could be permanently safe from werewolves during the night by making that play.
However, he or she could get lynched during the day, especially if the wolves gain a majority so that they can forget about hiding and control the voting anyway.
Ok, here’s how I am reading things at the moment…
Wanderers has made two potentially pivotal (alleged) claims.
a) That he is a Mason, and b) that there are two other Masons.
Either or both of these statements could be true, one of them could be a lie, or both of them could be fabricated, fluffy, fictitious, flea-bitten fibs.
Three Masons seems to be a reasonable number considering the original number of players. But a reasonable number could also be used as part of a relatively feasible lie. He could lie about the number of Masons even if he is an actual Mason, to try and keep the wolves guessing.
I would hope that if he were a Mason, he sure as hell better be lying about how many of them there are. To divulge the actual number so early in the game, even if it is in an attempt to keep the town from lynching him and losing one of their Masons, seems like bad move, imho.
Hmmmm…
Exactly. If the amount of werewolves were to equal the amount of townspeople-sided people, it’s a win for the werewolves. Because at that point the wolves can just announce themselves and take control of the lynching as well as the night killings.
No, I don’t mean there’s a game rule about lynching Masons. I mean that there’s no sensible reason to do so. If he’s telling the truth, he’s on our side. If he’s lying, at least two other people in the town know it, and it only takes one of them saying “Hey, he’s not a Mason, I am, and he’s not in our group.” to lynch him. So, assuming that doesn’t happen, he’s confirmed to be town.
And there’s no problem with him revealing the number of Masons. The main purpose of the role is to have confirmed town, so it’s going to come out sooner or later anyway. And it’s better to know the number early, so we don’t wind up in a situation with two dead Masons, and then another person pipes up and claims to be the third. For all we know, there were only two, and the alleged third is scum. Avoiding that is a good idea.
Time for some re-reading, since I was way off in my analysis of Wanderer, apparently.
OK, guys, I am leaving town until Sunday night for my dad’s birthday and will be off-line over the weekend, unless somehow I can scam a look at someone’s computer (which would solely be motivated by wanting to see what happens in this game!). I am leaving with my vote being for Miller, and I won’t change it unless, when I come back, we haven’t lynched anyone yet and new info comes to light that makes me reconsider.
Well, crap. Looks like I’m hosed, then. I’m (literally) putting my head in the noose, but since no one else has come forward to call you a liar on the Mason thing, it looks like you’re legit, and I’m not voting to hang an innocent man. Unvote One and Only.
No idea where I’m putting my vote now, though. How much time until it’s night again?
Hmm, I think if Wanderers were lying about being a mason, he would have been called out on it by now. So, unvote Wanderers.
Now what do we do? It seems to me that Wanderers just painted a target on his back by identifying himself as a higher value target than a regular townie (better than being lynched, I know). Since all people besides werewolves are potential werewolf food, would it be a good idea for all the masons to out themselves and verify the others? This would keep us from lynching them, would narrow the pool of would-be wolves, and might buy us some time for the seer to identify a wolf or two. I’m just thinking out loud, this might be an awful idea.
What’s the vote count now?
Better to wait until another Mason is actually at risk of getting the noose. If the other two Masons aren’t in the running right now, we’d be better off keeping their identities a secret.
Miller - 5 Votes (jsgoddess, Rubystreak, moonstarssun, One and Only Wanderers, Enginerd, Winston Smith).
One and Only Wanderers - 2 Votes (MadTheSwine, unfinished symphony).
moonstarssun - 1 Votes (Kat)
JSexton - 3 Votes (Suburban Plankton, Captain Carrot, Ogre)
Richard Parker - 1 Vote (hocow)
Ogre - 1 Vote (ComeToTheDarkSideWeHaveCookies)
Let’s not string up the Mason. I’m feeling the points made about JSexton, so unvote Enginerd, and I am throwing a vote for JSexton.
:smack:
Assuming it isn’t already too late.
FOS: dnooman and Ogre
unvote Miller
as i no longer need the defensive vote. I will do some reading and weigh in with a real vote this weekend.
Why would you believe that person?
