Werewolf (Mafia)--The Split [Signups--In progress]

The werewolves were given no extra knowledge about the testerizer at any point in the game.

Telcontar (3): Mahaloth, Jimmy Chitwood, Rexnervous
Mhaye (2): Zeriel, Fluiddruid
Daphne Black (1): Telcontar

Not to restate the obvious, but as **Daphne **noted - this is utterly wrong. Unless the Testerizer is just too complex to even worry about, the single best thing the town could have right now is a wolf tested and lynched.

Bolding mine.

What am I missing here? Has anyone claimed Rancher? AFAIK Telcontar only said it would be a waste to test him, not that he was a rancher. Who has claimed rancher?

Or are you saying that you are a rancher?

Let’s not forget this. Seeker’s claim makes no sense on the face of it. There must be something else going on.

But I can’t see how doing this now protects anyone on the wolf side either. Even if **Telcontar **were a wolf, we wouldn’t know that at the test stage (unless the Testerizer spits out a color scheme like Blood Red / Toothy White  ) and there’s no guarantee that we’ll be lynching the testee from here on out.
The timing is also pretty bad for us townies - only 12 hours (less now) to discuss and finalize vote.

This is interesting, to say the least.

Possibilities to consider are that Seeker:

  1. Jams, disables, or confuses the testerizer
  2. is a jester
  3. is a Godfather and will give useless testerizer results.
  4. is the opposite of a Godfather and will somehow give us more useful than typical testerizer results.
  5. something we haven’t thought of.

Remember, the scum only self-reveal when they think they have something to gain, and that something is not necessarily obvious.

The fact that Seeker’s trying to convince us to not test him is potentially evidence for 1 and 4, depending on how full your glass of WIFOM is.

OK. I just took a look at what seeker said and am absolutely confused about the motivation. Let’s find out what happens when we testerize a wolf.

untest Telcontar

test Seeker

That’s a general policy statement.

Right now, testing a Rancher would be a mistake; we need to test someone who is not a Rancher. (If someone claims to be a Rancher, but there’s evidence they may be lying, that’s a different kettle of fish.)

I’m making no specific claims right now.

Well, at least I can say I told you guys it was a newbie scum slip. But beyond that seriously WTF, the only thing I can think of is a protection of a wolf power role. So I’m thinking we need to go back and check Tel very carefully because I think he needs to go toMorrow just to be safe.

Damn, this is some weird shit.

lynch seeker
It’s always a good idea to kill the people who confess. Even if they’re lying you don’t want them in the town and you’ll feel like an absolute idiot if you don’t believe them and they are telling the truth.

I’m very confused by this move. It can only make sense if 1.) Seeker is lying or 2.) testing seeker is somehow anti town. F*ck. Err,
test seeker but is unhappy about it.

Anyone have a convenient list of what farmer/rancher roles people have claimed that OTHERS have? It’s worth assessing accuracy at this point, people have been getting very sloppy and if they’re consistently right…

Actually testing a rancher might be more useful than testing a farmer (we might finally figure out what the test results of the last three days have in common). Testing and lynching a wolf would be much much more useful though. Maybe we’ll get a black black or something.

As for villager role claims, see my other post. To my knowledge, only EH has claimed a role. Others have been said to have claimed roles and, if anyone can recall or has a list of these claims, it may be worth coming out to prove/disprove them.

It’s a logical thought, but an incorrect one. Think of it this way: How could my role be so useful to the wolves that we’d sacrifice another wolf just to gain one more night with me? The wolves have all the information they need… Yeah, I just don’t get this. On the plus side I have definitely succeed in my initial goal of being suspicious enough not to die during the night.

More proactive side:
1.) I really don’t think my post from last night reads like I expected to be alive tomorrow.
2.) I think there’s something in these false claims about me coming out as a farmer/rancher. there have been what, two or three of these?
3.) Zeriel, check me out tonight, if you haven’t already.

You need to unvote your tester vote before you can change it.

This unvote thing always gets me.

I’m not sure if it is always a good idea. I’m for it right now(kind of), but is there any chance that Seeker has some kind of power that will negatively affect the town if he/she is lynched?

Additionally, could it be that Seeker wants to be lynched to save Telcontar? I mean, if Seeker has a power that would hurt us townies and Telcontar doesn’t, it would be good for Seeker to jump on the grenade.

I am wondering if both Telcontar and Seeker are wolves, but Seeker is the preferred lynch in their group.

  1. If I die in the Night, you should really take it that this is correct.

  2. I’m a newbie. Do power roles anything like what I describe sometimes exist? If not, disregard it.

  1. That’s silly.
  2. Power roles could be a bit weird, but I can’t imagine a role combination that makes it sensible for a wolf to confess to save another wolf. My guess is either that a.) Seeker breaks the testerizer (which doesn’t make sense in that it’s almost useless as far as we can tell) or b.) Seeker is f*ing with us (which doesn’t make sense because he could just sub out). It could be that seeker is a saint and that everyone who votes to kill him dies, but that would be so awesome that I wouldn’t want to stop it.

Two housekeeping notes

  1. Am on a plane shortly so will be incommunicado from about noon eastern until late tonite or tomorrow, plus I’m visiting family thru Sunday so while I will have my laptop will have limited oppty to post.

  2. What is it with lurkers. Not reading anything into this, but we have 4 players who have posted less than either **Lemur866 **(subbed out last week) or **Ichini **(killed last weekend). 1 of these have yet to vote for Testing, and we have all of 5 hours until the Testerizer.

The four are:

Jimmy Chitwood
Elendil’s Heir (hasn’t voted yet)
fluiddruid
Zeriel

Hell, the bottom 3 have posted less than Scuba_Ben, who died two weekends ago.

Yes, I know, quality over quantity, blah blah, but still…

To be fair, it is a bit silly and sounds like a desperate attempt to save my own life. I just meant, consider that post especially if I am eaten in the Night. It’s like how we reviewed F.S.'s stuff when she died, or were supposed to anyway.

I was being a drama-townie.

I was going to say that Jimmy has been posting a lot recently then I realized that I was thinking of Justin. Bah. Very good points, all.

I figured, I just didn’t want anyone else taking it overly seriously. I wouldn’t worry too much, I think the wolves have a fairly clear target for tonight. Hmm, where did we put those healers?

One note: I have been in games where a non-town faction member could switch test results with another player for a round. Just something to keep in mind if we get a WTF result from seeker.

I would pay very, very close attention to what’s being said now. Not all of it, just the important parts.

I can’t say too much yet; I’ll have more information for you all after the Testerizer results.

Again, I would encourage everyone to NOT test me.

Well, this is a no-brainer.

Unlikely, and even if this is the case I don’t think we should try to avoid a very likely scum target based on such hesitation. Bad play is far more likely than such an obscure power. Plus, it’d be kind of a kick in the sack for there to be an unknown power like this on a scum player.

If Seeker turns up scum, though, who’s going to get voted for next? I’m not saying this is impossible, but extremely unlikely. It just doesn’t make sense to defend another scum player in this way, you’re just going to get lynched the following day.

What amazing analysis! Yeesh, maybe you are intentionally throwing the game on this one.

Come on. You know you’re about to be tested; if there’s a critical reason you shouldn’t be, you need to out with it now. Otherwise this just sounds like scum desperation, which I’m willing to bet that it is - after all, what else can you do, you want to avoid a wolf getting tested if you’re going to get lynched anyway (likely). What is the possible townie detriment of getting another townie tested? Are we to believe that you have some special power that is really bad for us if you get tested, but not if you’re lynched, and you can’t (or won’t) tell us about it? The most charitable assessment of your posts would be a power role townie playing exceedingly anti-Town, but the most likely explanation is simple.
