So, this show is basically HBO’s Dollhouse?
It just occurred to me that a problem with the theory that white hat/black hat are in the past (and one of them is MiB) is that while Dolores is with William she is having flashbacks to the church (cannibal cult). Which would mean she was part of that storyline even before white hat arrives in the park, which is of course possible I suppose, but it would mean she’s even older than 30 years.
Was anyone else a little disappointed when Ford orderd Bernard to kill Theresa? It seems like in an instant they switched him from morally ambiguous to straight evil mastermind. Don’t get me wrong, can’t wait for Sunday’s episode, but I liked not knowing if Ford was good or evil, but maybe he’ll land in a middle ground yet.
We all know what’s being built in that secret lab, right?
It’s gotta be a Theresa-host! I wonder if any board members are hosts Ford has planted.
I guess it’s hard to defend the killing of Theresa, it’s evil. But we have no idea what the board plans to do with the code once Ford is out of the way. He might be the lesser of two evils.
No, that was an another indicator of his programmed blind spot, like the door. When Dolores showed Abernathy the photograph she found, he replied exactly the same way “That doesn’t look like anything to me.”.

I’m pretty sure it was another host. He grabbed her arm and she was resisting; Dolores would have simply obeyed a human WW employee, as far as we know. I agree that William’s appearance made the difference.

I think he showed her the photograph (and she expressed the “blindspot” reaction) and this and other behaviour led to him being put in storage.

Except she has been raped and killed lord knows how many times and I assume the new techs wouldn’t know how to repair a clockwork Dolores or at least it would be an extra burden ( they mentioned how much more expensive the actual robots were ). Also either Bernard or Elsie made an offhand comment in one of the episodes something to the effect that there were ~56 original Arnold designs still around the park and that they were synths but with an older operating system or some such. I assumed Dolores slotted into that category.
Of course the fact we can’t trust anything, including timelines, means who the hell knows :p?

Maybe Theresa is a host too? And we don’t know where Elsie is either. Maybe she’s being Stepford Wifed. Kind of opens up a whole can of worms since people are hosts and hosts are people now.
If Theresa was a host there’s no need for Ford to kill her. He obviously has complete control over them.
The head security guy said that Dolores had been repaired/upgraded so many times that she’s practically brand new. So it’s at least possible her brain started in a more mechanical version of host but is built modern now.
My daughter asked around the third episode if Teresa was a host because she acted and looked robotic. When Bernard killed her she said, “I knew she was a host!” because Bernard smashed her head against the wall repeatedly, much like the other host had smashed his own head with the rock.
I honestly thought she was a host too and wondered why she needed to be killed instead of just maybe fired when they made out like she was a human. Why did they make a public deal about Bernard being fired if he was a host? Layers, I tell ya. This show has layers.

Because the people firing him didn’t know he was a host. They thought he was a human and that they could pressure him into implicating Ford in the supposed malfunction.
Just quickly rewatched the demonstration/Bernard firing scene. Firing Bernard was it for Ford. You can see the quiet “now you’ll feel my wrath” look on his face as the scene ends.
Definitely not a Theresa host. Sidse Babett Knudsen has stated in interviews that she was only contracted for the first 7 episodes and the director revealed in another interview that the host being constructed was of no special significance.
Bernard was fired because no one except Ford knew that he is a host. Ford could have spoken up a that point and told the board member, “Oh, no need for that. I’ll just deactivate him!” But then the board member would have known that Ford was planting unauthorized hosts in sensitive positions in the company and using them to insert dangerous code in the programming. (Remember, Bernard was fired because he was covering for Ford, refusing to say that Ford had given him the code for the latest update that included the reveries. In the very first episode, Bernard refuses to tell Ford what is causing the malfunctions, and Ford calls him on the fact that he [Bernard] doesn’t want to accuse him [Ford] of causing them by inserting that code in update.)
Theresa was presumably killed because she couldn’t simply be deactivated, at least not by Ford. Although who really knows.
I didn’t read him as mad. I read him as faintly amused. The board did all this maneuvering to set up a frame on Ford, and it utterly, utterly failed. They expected Bernard to roll over on Ford and offer him up as the one who coded the reveries, and as it turns out, that was never going to happen.
Hmm, that’s kind of a spoiler. I’m kind of surprised that director and a main actor would spoil/renounce such a plot turn ahead of time.
